Someone plug charger into headset port now want come on

Unplug power cord from back of pc. Open pc case and remove power plug from motherboard. Check power supply for proper function. If power supply checks good, plug back to motherboard and try to power after plugging power cord in. If comes on, ok, if not, motherboard needs replaced.

This is really poor practice and an excellent way to destroy a motherboard.
You should always have the board connectors plugged in before turning on the power supply, otherwise you may be blowing ICs left and right. It's perfectly OK to plug the supply into the wall or turn on its power switch with the board connectors in place. Also, nearly all modern boards have a set of pins that go to the front panel 'power' switch which does not switch AC but sends a logic signal to the power supply to turn the rest of the voltages on. Those pins have a 5V potential on them that is typically grounded to tell the supply to turn on.
If you're lucky, you still have an undamaged motherboard.

There is no power switch on the enhance atx 1123b that I have . What actually powers it up?

Just about every power supply I've owned doesn't have a power switch. The power supply is turned on by one of the wires in the 24 pin connector. According to this it looks to be pin 16 and how to turn it on:

"Short this pin to GND to switch power supply ON, disconnect from GND to switch OFF."

Hope this helps

Gateway 500s power box when hitting test button powers both fans, but no power to hardrive, dvd, or monitor. I have replaced power supply, motherboard, and harddrive, I have nothing, but green power button...

Does the fan on the power supply run? As you say the power on switch lights up and so does the motherboard, means that the power supply is working. Monitor gets power from the socket on the power supply. Try plugging it in the wall socket. Try to unplug the main power cord from power supply to the motherboard. The one that has a broad plug at the motherboard end. Replug it and they power on the PC.

See if you plugged in the 4 pin power connector on the motherboard besides the main power connection on the power supply (usually black colored and its a plastic 4 pin connector)

Try another power supply if all else fails. If new power supply does not work with this unit then its a motherboard which is blown and motherboard needs replacing.

Hope this helps

Powr supply checks out with tester, but when plugged into a BRANDNEW motherboard. Flashes green, Power switch is in and fans are in. Is it possible for P/S to be bad only when drawing from board?

There are many possibilities here. The motherboard could be installed incorrectly causing a short. The motherboard may not support the processor. A hardware device plugged into the motherboard may be shorted. The power supply may be defective under load ( when plugged into everything). No memory is installed on the motherboard. The power supply is too small for the motherboard that was installed. The first thing to check, is to plug in the motherboard connectors only with memory installed then try to power up. If at this point it will not power up, then you have a problem with the power supply or motherboard. If it powers up at this point, then plug in one device at a time starting with the hard drive and try to power up. If it continues to power up, plug in another device. If this process continues work, then you will find that either you have a shorted device or your power supply will not support the motherboard and all of the installed devices. It is also possible at this point that the motherboard is defective, by using more power than it should causing an overload on the power supply with all devices plugged in.

This has to be plugged into a motherboard and the switch to it as well is controleed by motherboard so no it will not come on just by applying power. I would try another supply for you inital issue if that does not turn on then what you got here is a cable backwords or a motherboard malfuction of some type.

thanks if this helps please rate it.

check the power supply: unplug the main connector from the motherboard, plug in the ac/mains power cord and switch on the on/off switch if any located on the power supply, locate the GREEN wire on the main connector that plugs on the motherboard, using a small length of wire insert one end into the plug where the GREEN wire is located and the other end into a BLACK wire on the connector. the power supply should power on if it is good: you will see and hear the fan turn on in the power supply. if it is good remove the wire and re-plug it.if it is not good replace the power supply. also check that the 110/220vac swithch is in the correct position for your mains voltage.do you have a floppy drive connected to the system? if so un-plug it and try again,re-check that you pluged the power button switch connector on the mainboard correctly,

They all do, I believe, I installed a new one, into my computer system not long ago, are you sure your power supply is one that the computer can handle? You shouldn't have that much of a problem - I wouldn't go pulling apart the wires on the power supply, its made like that for a reason, what you could try is see if your power supply has seated properly, sometimes if your not working on a flat surface the power supply plug won't go in properly and will not be pushed in all of the way, try laying your computer on its side, and pushing in the plug also, each motherboard has a certain amount of plugs for example 20 and 24, some motherboards want it to be a 20 power plug and others want it to be 24 power plug, thats the plug thats connected to your motherboard, that I'm talking about. make sure you have the right number, and that the motherboard plug and the power supply plug match, basically have the same number of connectors, (I mean that little white plug at the end of the red, yellow, black, wires, I hope this helps. ps- I really had to push on the white plug to get my seated properly
