Hi Peter, Some folders are part of Windows and you can't delete them, but you can delete the contents in them to make space on your hard drive. For example you can't delete My Documents, My Music, My Videos, etc. Good Luck.

How do I find my Prefetch folder on Vista emachines computor

Prefetch folders on Vista are hidden and locked folders, it isn't easy to get into them but not imposable.
to unhide the prefetch folder......
Instructions

    • 1
    • Click on the "Start" menu.
    • 2
    • Scroll over to "Computer" and click.
    • 3
    • Click on the "Tools" menu and scroll down to "Folder Options."
    • 4
    • Click on the "View" tab. This will open a list of options that you can click to enable or unclick to disable.
    • 5
    • Scroll down to "Show hidden files and folders" to enable that option. You can also unclick "Hide extensions for known file types" and unclick "Hide protected operating system files" if you wish to unhide your files. Your hidden folders will now come up on a regular Windows search.
Now Microsoft hides the prefetch folders for a reason, the files in them may cause Vista to stop working if you are not sure of what your doing. In other words if you change or delete a needed file your going to be in trouble and vista may stop working all together, and if you change something you can cause Vista to do things that can harm or allow viruses into your machine.
So if your very very sure of what you are going to do and your really sure it is safe to do then this will help you find what you want, However I cannot stress the danger of messing up Vista by playing around with the files in the prefetch folders.
Good Luck!

How to delete files that are used by other programs in windows XP/Vista?

Hello,

Today tip will help you to delete the files and folders that are being used by another programs and applications, for example a virus affected file. You have tried to delete such kind of files or folders and received the any following messages.

· Cannot delete file: the file is in use by the other program
· Cannot delete file: There has been a sharing violation
· Cannot delete file: The file is in use by another program or user
· Cannot delete file: Disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
· Cannot delete file: The source or destination file may be in use

Normally, a windows restart will allow you to delete such files or folders that are being used by other program, but if you want to manage it without restart your computer then simply you need to download a freeware tool called Unlocker.

You can download this tool for any windows version using Unlocker link. Download it and run the easy setup.

After installation, right click on file or folder that you want to delete and select the option Unlocker.

If your requested file or folder is used or locked by other application then a small window listing of lockers will appear.

Here simply click on “Unlock All” button and now you can easily delete this file.

Thanks,

Bhautesh.

Having a problem with Vista

cleosprint

In regards to Vista it does not use Document and Settings like 2000 and XP. Vista uses Users. Go to that folder and you should be able to find your personal files.

If you have any more problems or questions let me know.

Delete folder

Hi muraripcs,

Logon as Administrator and delete the protected folder.

You logon as Administrator like this:
Open the command prompt with Administrative privileges by opening the Start Menu, and typing cmd in the search box, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
Type the following in the command prompt:
net user administrator /active:yes
Press Enter
Restart your computer and logon as Administrator.
Note: You might want to set a password for the administrator’s account for at least a little protection.
Warning: Running as Administrator in Windows Vista bypasses all security and is NOT recommended.
If you decide to use the Administrator account don’t complain when you start having problems :-).

A customer complains that e-Mails from a certain person disappear after they are received. What would be your first troubleshooting steps?

1. Check the spam folder.
2. Check the bulk mail folder.
3. Check the deleted items folder.
4. If using a mail client, check the rules to determine if there is a rule setup to do something with email from that particular person.
