Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 Digital Camera
My Panasonic Lumix DMC FX8 recently started giving this message 'Turn Off the Camera and Turn On again'. When I turn it off and on, the same message is appearing again and again. The camera is allowing only in playback pictures mode. The camera is not allowing to do any other action. While switching off from the play back mode I observed some noise. Please help me in rectifying the problem. Regards PR
I had the same problem with my Panasonic DMCFX8 .. tried different combinations with buttons and finally it worked. Here is what you need to do with DMCFX8:
1- Put the camera in Simple Mode (the one with heart sign)
2- While the Camera is OFF - Press Display Button and the shoot button at the same time.
3- With both Buttons pressed (Display and Shoot) switch the camera on
4- As soon as LCD display Shows, Release both the buttons
5- The camera should be back to its original state - Working!
Hope that helps.

Hi, i've an fx8. i had a problem 2 weeks ago. my objective didn't want to close when i switched the camera off. it remained open. when i switched the camera on again, the objetcive has closed and opened again, and the _Turn Off the Camera and Turn On again_ message appeared on the sisplay. and remained in open position after switching it off. i tried some button combination, like menu button on, and power the camera on. it didn't work, but the second was the shotting button on, power on combination. an it worked, my camera did some kind of reset. it returned to the original position, and everithing is working since then.

We see this camera often because the lens gets compressed some how and the plastic gears which drive it become damaged, this would be the "buzzing" noise you're hearing during power up. The camera is not passing its power up diagnostics and therefore it shuts down. The lens is not cost effective to replace on this camera, parts and labor exceed a replacement units cost. Hope this is some help. Good Luck Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (customelectronics.org)
