Question about Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Pink tinge When I shoot a picture in bright sunlight, the picture always has a pink tinge to it. I have tried putting in manual mode, and adjusting the shutter speed and the f setting but I just can't seem to to get this to stop. I have also tried to adjust the white balance. I am new at doing this and I would like any help you can give. Thank you. All of the pictures have a very distorted color. They all have a pinkish-violet color. They look awful. I tried resetting by scrolling to the 'reset all' option in the setup menu but nothing happened. How do I get it to reset?

Check the settings first, and ensure that the white balance is not wrong.

A pink/purple picture means usually a problem with the camera digital sensor.

You can reset the camera by going to the setup menu and selecting reset all option.
you can even try a hard reset by taking the battery out...keeping the camera remain off for around a minute and then inserting the batteries back in

To reset, take the batteries out and let it sit overnight and put them back in. Then try taking a picture and see if it made any difference. If it did not, you may need to clean the lens with a baby wipe or a soft rag that only has water on it. If that does not work, then you may need a new lens or the part that puts the picture on the film. See if it is still under warranty and should be able to get fixed for free.

When pictures are taken out side they come out pink

Your White Balance may need adjusting - try looking in the menu system for White Balance, then set it to AWB (Average White Balance) or an appropriate outdoor setting (Sunlight, Shade, Cloudy etc). The manual should help if you are stuck.

Photograph of a pink sunrise came out grey

Shooting, with a lens pointing to the sun is always risky for the camera. It could damage the sensor. But with a ND filter, perhaps this could. Then when you are shooting in automatic and just jpg, the camera will try to set the white balance, so the sun comes out bright white. It was the brightest spot in the frame. If you shot RAW you could be better off, because the camera did not change anything to the white balance in rte RAW picture. At least you would be able to restore the colour in a photo editor program like Lightroom or Photoshop RAW.
In extreem light conditions, never use the camera in auto. Only when the camera offers scene mode for that condition, you could use that.

Hello. Pictures on my S220 are coming out with a tinge of pink. Have reset it to factory default settings but problem still exists. Any help is most appreciated.

Hi.

The tinge pink, often coming with kind of streaky shadows of blur means that you have a defective CCD sensor. The CCD sensor is the image sensor located directly behind the optics. The pink color is typical effect of this fault.

There were recalls issued for several models. I don't think the S220 was included in the recall, but give it a try calling the Nikon support number listed in the camera manual (Canon and Nikon stopped recalling and refunding for this problem in 1998).
Ask Nikon details on repair procedure. You can also get a quote from a third party repair here: Repair.

Regards.

Pictures taken recently have a pink tinge, eg the sky is pink and skin tones are wrong.

your settings are wrong on the brightness and contrast

some of the power shots set up by using KELVINS as the method of balancing the warmth or coolness of a picture. Others have a setting for OUTSIDE Inside Halogen and fluro If its set on halogen and you are taking pics outside it will have a red tinge.

Fluro a blue tinge...

check the manual for the right selections

Pink sky in background.

Try and use the SCN. Mode.

Bright light is never recommended for any pics.

Contact KODAK they might have more ideas or can arrange a repair for you if needed.

Pink tinge

try reset to factory defaults, it is in the menu somewhere if it does not help look closely on the lens if there is any damage, are you using any filters ? if all fails then you have faulty image sensor, Nikon will replace it free of charge even out of warranty.

Pictures too dark

The settings in Auto Mode are factory set. If you want to adjust exposure and shutter speeds then you will have to shoot in Manual Mode (TV=Shutter Priority, AV=Aperture Priority, M=Full Manual)

Pink tint when shhoting in bright sunlight

Sane problem with C713, the view screen is dark and gives focus warning, then the pics come out with a pink tint. I believe it is the sensor or shutter problem. Can't get any solutions either.

Pictures are too bright when shooting outdoors in sunlight

Have you tried changing your settings manually to outdoor? Or adjusted the aperture? You can usually find the aperture settings under the menu button. If not, try adjusting to outdoor conditions and disabling flash. And also, lower your white balance a good bit.
