seems like the OS is done.

either the MBR or the boot file for the windows os is corrupted.

    reinstall the Operating System.

you can try to recovery the system, using MS_DOS command.

since it will not let you go pass the DOS-menu select, my suggestion is to reinstall the OS. it is faster, but you loose all of the personal files.

or you can take the hard drive out and make a slave drive on a working machine and recovery all you files.

Windows start normally does not work.

what does it do? try starting in safe mode. if you can do that then run virus scan to see if anything is affecting you computer. In safe mode, select Start>Run then type in "msconfig" for Vista and Windows 7 just type in "msconfig" in the search line under the start menu. The first tab that's open is the General tab that shows how you computer starts up. It is likely on "Selective Startup" switch it to Normal Startup and reboot. If it boots up normally now, you will likely have to clean up your computer. go into control panel then add remove programs and remove programs that you don't use or won't use. Be sure you know what they are before you remove them. Try defragging it too.

Issue with freedom notebook booting up. It loops as it gets to Windows XP. Do you have a solution

press F8 as system is starting and use the last known good configuration option, if that does not work boot from the windows installation disk and do a repair install.

Acer Aspire One loops on start up screen. All it does is show the acer logo, then shows the ''windows was shut down improperly'' screen with all those options and then goes to the windows xp start up...

Try tapping F8 when the acer window shows, when it shows the muliboot option, scroll down to "Last Known Good Configuration" and hit enter. If it does not boot normally, you will have to get an external dvd drive and boot off the drive with a windows installation disc to perform a repair.

Computer seems to be in a loop when turned on

What you are having there is a problem with the booting up of windows. most likely a corruption. The best thing to do here is to have your computer taken to a local technician or a friend who knows about computers. Have your hard drive files recovered by connecting your hard drive to their computers. Then after that you could either try to use your windows xp cd to do a repair installation (However its not a guarantee that you will be able to recover your files with this step.) or to have a full Operating System reinstallation. Hope this helps.

My windows XP will not start

Hi See
To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer.
  2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
  3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
  4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.
