Re: low sound

Your set should have a separete stereo amplifier board ,follow the wires from the speakers and it should take you to it,tap on this board and see if the sound changes if not try taping on the main board, dont over do it and do not use anything metal use the plastic handle of a screwdriver,it should not take too much to make it react then you know you have a loose conection,if you are familiar with tv service this should help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for help.If you dont have loose conections at the audio output the voltages will have to be checked.

I have a toshiba 50hm67 the picture is prefect dont think the build is bad, but i have a humming coming out of the tv what could that be and how can i fix it.

If it is a high pitched or even fan like sound it may be the color wheel in that set which if I remember is not sold except with a complete light engine, do some research on that model for color wheel.

Light setting stays dim even when i try to switch high low settings on menu

It may be the lamp about to fail--most lamps in the model listed will or can go dim just before failing.

I own a Toshiba TW56F80 rear projection unit. I've owned it since 1997, and it has served me well. A few months ago, I heard a zap sound from inside the cabinet, and all my remote functions stopped. I can...

Sounds like to me that a HV Arc or a Static discharge has corrupted the eeprom data or caused the Main Micro Processor to lock out those features. Have you unplugged the set for 24hrs? As easy as this sounds it is true that allowing the lower voltages bleed off so the eeprom and micro are able to fully re-set themselves. I doesn't always work but if you have not tried it, try it . That would be a cheap fix. If this does not fix it, parts are going to be tough to get because of the age of the unit. Toshiba may not even manufacture them any more.
Good Luck,

Toshiba 35AF44 Sound on full & will not shut off.

Well, a shorted diode on the keyboard circuit would be likely. When you change out the tactile switches, did you check for any shorts on any of the switches?

There is no part in this set called a text board. I suspect the person that gave you this information meant the wow board. it is a plug in board that is near the far right of the chassis as you face the back and is about 2" by 4". if you remove this board the and it is the cause of the problem the set will work but will have no sound.

Loud audio pop

This is the type of problem that can drive a repair person or shop mad! The reason is that alot of times when a set is moved, the snapping from the High voltage does not occour. Your problem is one that deals with alot of dust and dirt in or around the High voltage block assy. And or a problem with one of the Picture tubes and or the High voltage leads going to the tubes, or a high voltage transformer that is going bad and is cracked. If you do not know the high voltage safety factors, you should not attempt to repair this set, as there is enough High voltage in this set to grab hold of you and shake you and to toss you to the other side of the room OR KILL you. My friend, this is a repair job for a pro to do! The longer you wait, though, to get the problem corrected, the more it will most likly cost you to repair. Good luck and if you get the set fixed or even if you do not , Please post back and let us know what you did to fix your problem?

Toshiba 42wt29b. screen keeps turning blue

MMMM Hard call here. The fact that it does try to come on blue maybe an indication that the power supply regulator circuit is good. It could also be a shorted blue tube and when it comes on its overloading the screen drive and the set goes into overload protection shutdown. The real way to see Would be to pull off the blue crt socket as well as the Hi Voltage lead on the crt and see if the set comes on without blue. If it does Your gonna need a pict tube. If it dosent then troubleshooting along the switched power supplys would be neccassary.. BUT I advise you THAT IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE TROUBLESHOOTING TV SETS PLEASE SEEK A PRO TO ASSIST YOU AS THERES VERY HIGH VOLTAGE INSIDE THESE SETS EVEN IF THEY ARE UNPLUGGED. GOOD LUCK
