The motor has a label on it that will give the connections. For a 240V circuit, you should be connecting to the two screw terminals in the back of the motor and a ground to the green screw.

There should be a wiring diagram on the side of the motor. It will show wiring for 220V,or 110V, or both.

My motor has black, white, and brown wires coming out of it. I had sketched the connections but left it out in the rain and now don't know how to hook it up.

Are these the wires that come from a power source to the motor?
Which are called Line wires.
if these are Not Line wires, then they are the motors internal wires, and you could be out of luck? You will need the manufacturers wiring diagram.
If they are Line wires, then simply... Get a multimeter, turn power on, and test each wire to ground. This will tell you if and which each wires is line/hot or not.

Installed new pump primed the pump and then turned on, but nothing is working. Is there something else I'm suppose to do?

Make sure your pump is connected to the proper voltage. There are 2 settings High Voltage and Low Voltage. Follow diagram for your voltage. The A and B settings are for the inside motor wiring and the lines are for you wire sources.

Problem for Emerson THREADED SHAFT UP RATED - 1.00 HP - EB228 Wiring pool pump mdel 1081 I just got a new motor, hooked it up, I have power to the unit, but it won't turn on, any suggestions?

Well if you have a new motor and it won't turn on most likely you don't have power (or proper power) to the motor. First of all determine if your using 110v or 220v. Many pool motors these days can be wired either way. There is usually either a little switch you turn, or a little connector you move to an alternate location to change voltage. If your running 110v you should have a hot wire (usually black, red, or possibly blue), neutral (white), and ground (green). If your running 220v you should have 2 hot, and a ground, but no neutral. In theory it's pretty simple, so if the power's all good then the motor's bad, which is possible but not likely. If it's still not working, bench test with a different supply to verify, or take it back and have the supplier test it. If you bench test it and it works fine then your supply at the equipment is bad. if you bench test and it's bad then either the motor is bad, or your hooking it up wrong. If it turn out the supply at your equipment is bad, this can be tricky and requires more extensive troubleshooting... checking for proper voltage, bad wires, switches, loose contacts, etc, etc.

Pentair WhisperFlo Wiring Help

If you just bought this then there will be a diagram on the motor nameplate and/or under the terminal cover where you connect the wires. Generally speaking, there are two wires inside the motor that change positions depending on 115 or 230 v connection. If one of the wires is on a post common to one of the line leads, that usually means you have the motor set for 115V. Is that the voltage you are supplying to the motor? If there is no diagram you can make out on the motor, post what brand motor and the motor model number for a diagram.

I have three wires to connect to the emerson 1081 pump. My wires are 1. Blue, 2. Purple, 3. Green .... Which wires (color) to I connect to on the pump??

Is green your ground wire? Assuming it is put it on the ground post and the other two go to the line connections as shown on the motor. If it is a dual voltage motor, be sure you set the motor selector to be the same as the line voltage you are supplying the unit.
