There are one or two capacitors in the power supply that open," leaving a slight puff at the top" in some cases.

This is most probably cause by one or more Faulty Electrolytic Capacitors, I find these are the MOST commonest form of "Fault" in these LCD's TFT's units. I ususally simply replace "On Spec" all High Value Electros, in fact ALL Electro's are suspect and often I just "Shotgun" and replace 'em all. Usually fixes all problems. Always use High Temperature Caps.

SOURCE: Benq lcd c5707 transistor issues

These transistors short due to deterioriated solder joints on the leads of the transformers. Unless you resolder the connections you will have shorted transistors again.

SOURCE: Benq FP71G LCD Monitor - Can't keep POWER ON / Button Problem?

I had the same problem and found that Q808, Q809 and Q805 had failed and which if left long enough can also cause PF801 to fail. I also replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors during the rebuild as it was only a few dollars to do so.

Although in my case Q815, Q816 and Q812 were fine I suspect that they may also fail in time.

Here are the parts which should be available at most electronic stores or online.

Q808 & Q809 - 2SC5707
Q805 - IRFU9024N
PF801 - 3 AMP PICO FUSE

Trying to purchase a power adaptor for benq fp781 can only find one compatable for fp 791 would this work on a fp 781 monitor ??

On the screen itself, where it plugs in, it should give you a voltage rating, and a line with a C encompassing a circle. Make sure that these two things match up between the two screens, they should, but at the same time, there is the possibility that they don't. Also, make sure the plug is the right size. Yes, it should work, but I would just take the extra precautions listed above to prevent frying your monitor.
I hope this helps!

My cs8110 won come on

The standalone unit has the same programing as the salt water unit with the integrated pump. When you see "FP" it is in Filter Pump mode. Simply press the down button for 2 seconds, then the up button for 2 seconds to unlock the pad. Either change your run time or leave it the same and lock the pad (hold the down button for 2 seconds and then press the up button for 2 seconds). After it locks you should see the green working light come on. The reason FP isn't in the manual is that you don't need Filter pump mode on the stand alone unit (I think it should still be in there as it is still possible to get into this mode on accident).

Check the buttons on your monitor for possible shorts. Sometimes pressing a sequence of buttons while turning the monitor on will lock the OSD.

Benq monitor powers off immediately

Try sending monitor back as most Benq monitors come with at least a two years silver warranty. Benq are very helpful and their repairers are quick and polite. You will find their no.s on their website www.benq.com my monitor was experiencing the same and for $10 postage and a one week wait is repaired and working fine.
