I have cleaned the printer, and no paper is jammed. I have turned it off and on, as this worked in other occasions, but not now. The 5100 error comes up in the LCD screen when there is a power failure and then the electricity comes back, it would seem like it is disconfigured by that. The last time I turned it off, unplugged it and unplugged the usb plug to computer, and then replugged everything and it worked. Not any more. Thanks for your help.

- NOthing worked, I have tried all solutions and the error persists. I went to the dealer to consult and he said it is usually with these printers the voltage differences so he recommended I purchase a ups with battery charge to avoid this recurrent problem each time we have a power failure.
-   I have the same problem and got it fixed by trying some maintenance tests, it then printed one page only and then immediately when i sent another page i got the same error. No solutions posted help? Any other suggestions, it is pretty new printer! -   derekborror
On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.
Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
if this did not check if the cartridges is fitted in place ,even this did not clear the error then Turn the printer off. . Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. . Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose. and then power it on and check ..if this fails it must be serviced ...
