Question about Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

5100 error I have cleaned the printer, and no paper is jammed. I have turned it off and on, as this worked in other occasions, but not now. The 5100 error comes up in the LCD screen when there is a power failure and then the electricity comes back, it would seem like it is disconfigured by that. The last time I turned it off, unplugged it and unplugged the usb plug to computer, and then replugged everything and it worked. Not any more. Thanks for your help.

NOthing worked, I have tried all solutions and the error persists. I went to the dealer to consult and he said it is usually with these printers the voltage differences so he recommended I purchase a ups with battery charge to avoid this recurrent problem each time we have a power failure.

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

if this did not check if the cartridges is fitted in place ,even this did not clear the error then
Turn the printer off.
. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
and then power it on and check ..if this fails it must be serviced ...

Printer show printer error occurred 5100 meaning what

Hi Hemalatha,

This error is a "Jam" error. Look for any objects / pieces of paper that is stuck in the paper feeders (front and back). Secondly there is a timing strip that gets dirty and could also cause this error. Cleaning it could solve this problem. Hereafter, press and hold the "Clear" button for 5 seconds or more to reset the error log.

Here is a tutorial on how to fix this error:

My printer just quit working and comes up error5100.

Error 5100 describes a minor physical error. Usually a paper jam or improperly seated ink cartridge. Check the printer for paper jams and re-seat the ink cartridges according to the owners manual and you will be ok.

Error 5100 paper jamming

Make sure the rollers are clean, there could be residue built up on them. Also make sure the roller are moving, you possily may have a belt broken inside the printer that is not turning a roller and causing the paper jam.

Mx330 Error 5100 Error 5100. I turn of then turn on the printor but it did not work

Hi You can Try 2 things.

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Keep getting a service error 5100 notice

Hi,

The unit may have a paper jam or stuck object inside, if you have experience a paper jam error before, check the printer for any object or paper stuck inside, clean roller.

Some error like this can be a problem on the feeder sensor and by this time you may need to replace and repair the unit.

Hope this initial info helps

Pixma mp460 error 5100

this error is an error within the printer. This error means that there is something obstructing the printing process. Check inside your printer through the gears that you can see under the lid. There should be something obstructing the gears such as dirt or in my case popcorn. There was even some paper caught underneath the rollers that I had to jiggle around to even see. Check VERY thoroughly.
