If you plug in your touch to your computer is it recognized in the System profiler under the USB strain?!? I apologize if i've already asked this question. If the ipod isn't being recognized under that, then it's most likely a faulty touch.. if it is being recognized then we know it's a software related issue. If it is being recognized, are you aware if the iTunes helper is running?

Here's one more thing to try... You'll need a clock with seconds.
Hold the "Power/Lock" and "Home" buttons for 10 full seconds. Without releasing the "Home" button, release the "Power/Lock" button... continue holding the "Home" button for another 10 full seconds.
This should completely reset the phone to the factory shipping level.
NOTE: The timing is crucial, you must be very precise or it won't change anything and you'll have to start over.
Try watching the How-to Jailbreak video on this site (http://www.iknowapple.net) for the timing. Call if you want help.

Reinstall iTunes. That's the easiest way to fix this problem. But don't uninstall it. Just download the latest version from Apple run it and restart your computer.

Can't sync ipod touch

If you haven't already, Uninstall your itunes and download a clean version.
install the clean version of itunes and try your ipod again.
you can get a clean version at www.apple.com/itunes/

It appears your install is corrupt.
also have you updated your touch recently.
if it is jailbroken you should be able to update it to a newer version.
If your version is to old, it maynot be compatible with the newer versions of itunes.
They are constantly trying to thwart the jailbreak and unlocked ipod and iphones.

Check your version and update to something newer if the re-install of itunes doesn't help.

Itunes v8.02.20 will not open.

Try uninstalling iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Quicktime. (Note: When you uninstall each of these, it asks whether you want to restart your computer. Say no until you have unnstalled the 4th one, after which restart your computer).
Then, reinstall iTunes. It should work.

Right click on it and select run as administrator. if that doesn't work.

Remove itunes from add or remove programs, do a search for itunes on your harddrive and delete all folders with itunes or apple on it. there are probably some files in documents and settings folder that need to be removed.

basiclly the itunes and apple software needs to be fully removed and then reinstalled.

Does one have to have apple computer for ipod one touch

Are you going to (www.apple.com/itunes/download) to download the latest version of iTunes? Also I would suggest attempting the download with your firewall/anti-virus software disabled. As they can sometimes cause the itunes download to not complete or download with missing files. They are not viruses but sometimes the different softwares will think they are malicious. You do not have to own an apple computer to use an apple iPod. Just make sure that your Operating System on your PC is up to date an you should be good to go. If your not downloading iTunes version 8.1.1.10 then it's not the latest version. :)
