Reformatting my Insignia Pilot 4GB mp3

Most MP3 players have their own CD that came with the device. That should carry the stock firmware of your MP3. You need to connect the device to a computer and then load the CD. Through the instruction manual, you will have an idea on how you can re-flash the firmware.

If you're not so sure about it, you may contact the manufacturer and ask them for the latest firmware version that your device should be back to normal.

Can't pair bluetooth headphones with Insignia Pilot MP3 player

the directions from Samsung to pair the headset was way off. You need to hold down the main button then turn on the headset. Only then will the headset go into pairing mode by maintaining a solid blue light. It took me a couple of days of troubleshooting and experimenting to realize this pairing method. I just hope that this problem is only due to my headset because I assume a lot of people who buy this headset and try out Samsung's directions will become very frustrated. I almost returned the product and I am sure many others would too.

Passkey prob

Here's the news...you can't.

The Insignia players are "Master" units and not "Slave" units. Your phone is another master unit and will not talk with the Insignia player since the Insignia player doesn't have a "slave" mode.

If there was a passkey on the Insignia player, it would be 0000 or 1234...with is pretty standard for most BT slave devices like headphones and speakers.

I do not have the install disk for my Insignia Pilot.

Go to Insignia's website to get the software - usually in the support section: Here is the link for the 8GB version of the Pilot:

Insignia connecting to car

Solution #1 - If your car deck is a tape deck, you can purchase a cassette conversion kit to accomplish this. The cassette converter is a mock-cassette that has a wire and headphone plug on the end. Put in the "cassette", plug the headphone jack into your Insignia Pilot, and play your music from the Pilot.

Solution #2 - There are also FM transmitter packages that will plug into your Insignia Pilot and transmit over an FM frequency. You'll need to turn on and tune the cars radio to the frequency the transmitter is sending to be able to hear the music from your pilot.

Solution #3 - If you are looking for a direct connect through the AUX 1 input (if your car radio supports this) you would need a small amplifier to boost the signal from your Pilot. Otherwise youll either get nothing as far as volume, ot it'll be really weak and you'll have to increase your volume to such a high level that there will also be a lot of noise. This solution would require a small amp (probably available from Best Buy or Radio Shack) left/right stereo RCA cable (from amplifier to car deck), left/right stereo RCA to stereo headphone, and a power cable to your cigarette lighter.

**if you have an after-market car stereo, you can most likely connect with this solution. If your car stereo is stock, then most likely you will not have an Aux 1 input on the back of the unit and will need to resort to solution #1 or #2.

Insignia Pilot doesn't always recognize music files

Okay...here we go!

1) Back up all your files on the player.
2) Re-format the player in windows as either FAT16 or FAT32 (no this will not remove the OS firmware).
3) Place your files back onto the player.

The volatile memory on these units can become corrupted if your USB connection is underpowered, split too many times, or has a few devices also drawing power.

This should fix your problem.

Good luck!
