SOURCE: Drain valve on air compressor won't open or close

I would use an ajustable wrenck to try and open the valve. Being at the bottom and in the water, this is a common occurrence. to replace the valve, there is a Hex nut outer fitting (part of the valve) that you have to remove right by the valve "T" handle. Put a wrench on this and remove the complete valve. It too will be very hard to remove. When you install the new valve, use some anti-seize compound to make future removal easier.

SOURCE: Drain valve in Porter Cable air compressor

this valve works backwards, you screw it out to stop airflow. If that doesn't work, replace the valve.

SOURCE: Porter cable pancake unit blows air after shut off.

tap on the check valve with a metal object. Its sticking open. The check valve is the brass fitting on top of the tank. When the valve sticks open it emits air from the area of the engine. If that doesn't work (which I would be surprised it doesn't), you'll need to purchase a new check valve. Good Luck!

SOURCE: The drain plug on my Porter Cable pancake

Yes...the drain valve on the bottom of the tank is just a standard 1/4 Drain Pedcock that you can purchase at most hardware store.
You can also find these in the hardware section of Lowes or Home Depot where they sell the Air Compressors.

SOURCE: Extra fitting on my Porter Cable?

The porter cable compressor is equipped with a pressure relief valve. Mine has a ring attached to it. When you pull out on the valve, it releases all the pressure stored in the tank. Try pushing that valve back in, or if faulty replace it.

I have a duel tank porter cable air compressor Will not build pressure past 50psi. when i open the drain valve light coat of moisture mixed with oil sprayed out. whats wrong? Thanks

Moisture and oil in small amount is normal with oil type compressors, a by product. If there is no air leak between the pump and tank, suspect worn piston rings, worn out faulty valves, loose pump head.

Can I replace the tank drain on my Porter Cable 150PSI 6Gal pancake compressor with a ball valve?

As long as it will physically fit and the rating is above 150psi -Yes.
I say above 150psi because if the compressor pumps to 150psi, a 150psi valve is on the hairy edge of it's max limit.

I have a porter cable c2002 type 4 compressor with a leaky drain valve \r\nmy question is does the 1/4 inch valve come out. there is somekind of strange metal flange with wings that appears crimped around...

It is a simple drain valve with NPT (pipe) thread. Most likely either 1/8" or 1/4" NPT threads. Any drain valve with the same thread size should work fine. You may also find one at an auto parts store as they are used on automotive radiators too.

Air Leak From Pump Head on Porter Cable C2001 Pancake Compressor

The real question is where exactly is the leak coming from. Compressors have a pressure release valve designed to let the pressure off of the compressor motor so it can start when there is pressure in the tank. This valve is often the culprit and fairly easy to replace. You can order it direct from porter-cable online. Just in case double check the drain petcock sometimes these get worn and won't close completely and can easily be over looked when trouble shooting.
