Question about RCA P52930BL 52" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

When TV warms up, the sound is scratchy and the image turns snowy, but everything works fine with the DVD player even when warm. the TV works fine when you just turn it on it just happens when it warms up and is using the tuner to receive the image even if I use the tuner in my VHS. You have already diagnosed the tuner as the problem, the first thing to check is the conections at the tuner specially the ground conections, the shell of the tuner is the ground and it conects to the chassis by being solder to it,if all conections check ok look for overheated areas. After that is taken care you still have the possibility of having a bad tuner. If you are familiar with tv service this information will help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.

I recently purchased a KDL-40W5100 LCD Digital Color TV. I gives a great picture, but when I turn on my Panasonic DVD connected to it I get a blue snowy picture (it worked fine on the old TV)Can you help?

Hi,
This may be due to a setting on the dvd player itself. What kind of tv did you have previously? Also what kind of connection are you using to hook up the dvd player to the tv? Lastly, if you have the model number for the dvd player it will help if/when you need further assistance.
Thank you,
Lee

Tunner? Picture whites out

Is this when you are watching a DVD, or Tape, or when watching TV using the Combo's tuner? The effect you describe is caused by the video signal losing its DC level.
Hope Ya Fix it.

If you are on cable, first run the cable wire from the wall directly to the TV, eliminating any cable box and/or VCR. If channel 2 is snowy but the rest (especially 3-6) are clear, it is most certainly a cable problem and not a TV problem. The TV uses the exact same circuits for channel 2 to 6 (VHF-LOW) so if the tuner was bad and 2 was snowy, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be snowy too. Bring a second TV into that room, disconnect the cable wire from the RCA and connect it to the second TV. Is channel 2 on the second TV as snowy as it was on the RCA?

yes it could ba the cable itself even, but i suspect more the tuner circuit or tuner itself may have bad solder connections. Here is another test for you to try, plug another dvd or vcr, or xbox etc. into the back, using one odf the inputs. See if this works like the built in dvd. if so it will be more likely bad connections in the tuner or surrounding circuit. good luck.
