Fails to initalize

After a 3 hour conversation with the Expert (in India I believe), representing HP,the problem remains ,It will not initialize...When powering up the PSC,the scanner starts its check and does not stop(keeps trying to go farther to the right). After about a Minute of clicking,(from the drive belt slipping) all the lights flash, then even the printer is useless. The display flashes"Failed to Initialize:turn off and back on" I looked for a proxcimity switch to tell the scanner when to stop,i could not find one.(I semi Disassembled it) Ive also tried 3 times uninstalling and re-installing the software. help !!!!!!! Thank You !!! Darren

Re: fails to initalize

I have the same. I thing it's a electronic problem. The end position will do a higher power in the motor and this electronic check will not work. I'd check the mainboard, but there is no chance.

I am having the same problem, did you happend to find a solution for this issue?? please let me know at or After disassembling mine and realigning the mirrow in the bottom part of the scanner i managed to make it work only once, i really dont think it had something to do with it but it happened. i am desesperate, any help will be appreaciated. i believe that since the motor is a "motor de pasos" that need to be activated by consecutive pulses, the board must be sending these bits non-stop, but i have no clue of whereas how to fix it. thanks in advanced carla hernandez

How to reset printer setting

Turn off the HP LaserJet 2840.

Press and hold down the "Enter" and "*" keys on the printer's control panel, and turn the printer back on.

Hold the "Enter" and "*" keys until you see the "Permanent Storage Init" message on the device control panel. Release the two keys to perform the NVRAM initialization. The NVRAM initialization takes just a few seconds, and the "Permanent Storage Init" message remains on the printer's display until the initialization is complete.

Ensure that the "Ready" message on the printer's control panel is visible. You can now connect the printer to your computer and print your documents. If the "Ready" message is not displayed and your printer is still stuck in a loop, turn off the printer and contact HP customer support (see Resources).

  • To reset an HP 2840 from your computer, open the HP Toolbox program, click "Device Settings," click "Service," click "Restore" in the Resets section and then click "OK" to confirm the action and restore the printer to its factory defaults.

HP Laserjet 4345MFP
Backlight on printer display does not light.
Counts up the 256MB memory then HP logo (3 sizes) appears (just visible)
The 3 lights keep cycling on the display. Thats it, does nothing else.
It has been left overnight and continues to display the logo and cycling 3 lights.
Rear DC Cont Fan is turning. No other fans or activity with machine.
When ADF/scanner/mfp or hard disk are disconnected it does recognise this and throws an error and asks for reboot.
I have tried cold reset, nvram init. and hard disk init. but no difference.
Your thoughts?

52 scanner error problem

Perform the following:
Super NVRAM init
When a super NVRAM init is performed, the all-in-one language and telecom country/region settings
are undefined. The user is prompted to set the language and telecom country/region. Until these settings
are defined, the all-in-one will not return to the Ready state.
CAUTION A Super NVRAM init erases all data that is stored in both the unprotected and
protected NVRAM memory.
To perform a super NVRAM init
Turn off the all-in-one.
2. Press and hold down the * and 5 buttons.
3. Continue to hold down the buttons while you turn on the all-in-one. Hold the buttons throughout
the entire power-on sequence.
4. When Permanent Storage Init. appears on the control-panel display, release the buttons.
5. When prompted, set the language and telecom country/region.
6. Allow the all-in-one to return to Ready before using it.

If this step does not resolve the issue, please repair/replace the printer.

Scanner failure during the initalization/starts up.

Sound as if your scanner is broken..
Could be something in there stopping it from moving, the motor could be bad.
It might have Home Positioning errors, causing this error.
To get it Fixed? The machine is about 140 dollars on Amazon?
The company I work for, the first hour is 125 (I do not know how much it cost to repair these)
Unfortunately these little ink jet printers are not designed to be repaired. They are considered throw away.
