Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet

Open Question

I've got a Easynote MV51-120 laptop. The screen keeps flashing and going off and on. Sees like a loose connection. How do I gain access to the ribbon cable to allow me to inspect for loose connections etc?

Essential you have one license allowed and it checks the primary HD via its 'utilities function', and only does a general scan of slave. Since you did not mention Norton version nor your OS general assist here. You might consider going into Options and having it scan both HDs, worked for me.

SOURCE: HAVE TATA INDICOM LG250 MODEM CONNECTED TO MY DESKTOP PC I WOULD LIKE TO CONNECT IT TO MY HP PRESARIO C700 LAPTOP. I HAVE LAN & TELEPHONE CABLE TOO. CAN I CONNECT IT AND ACCESS THE INTERNET?

as long as you have the ports for it yes, are you trying wireless, or a wired connection? depending on how old or new your laptop is you may be able to connect the telephone line right into your laptop, although that would be dial up and very slow so i would recommend using a cat5 cable aka normal internet cable

SOURCE: cable and wireless question

Not possible, since the "input" to the 2WIRE modem is a 4-wire telephone-line, not an 8-wire Ethernet cable.

Instead, spend about $40 to buy a D-Link Wireless G modem, and connect its WAN port to the cable-modem, and connect up to 4 Ethernet cables to "wired" computers, and configure the "wireless" component of the D-Link router.

Have you removed all of the screws from the bezel all the way around the screen - looking at the picture of the laptop there should be six screws one in each corner and two more across the top, left and right of the web cam.

Get the whole bezel loose so you can bend it down and see what is holding the bezel in place, sometimes you have to be firm in pulling the bezel away from the top plastic (back of the screen) if you bend it forwards you should be able to see what is holding it in place - good luck

My packard bell easy note laptop keeps flashing off,i have to put the top right back then slowly forwards again so it works

There is a ribbon cable connecting things together.
Sometimes they crack.
Sometimes they are in the hinge area and may be able to be replaced
but would be expensive at a shop and a bit technical.
There could also be dirt or a sugar liquid like pop or coffee spilled inside the on/off or hinge switch (a little switch that is pushed when the laptop closes, usually near the jam or could be inside casing.) and this could be causing a short.
Probably ribbon cable, may not be able to be replaced! without replacing screen. Here's hoping for you. This is generalized information and not P.Bell specific..
Need more info as to whether is just screen or whole laptop going off/on.
Good luck, hope this helps some.

Hi,

It looks like that the ribbon cable connected on the logicboard to your screen is the one that is causing the issue. What you should do is to have it checked by the manufacturer (Gateway) if it still has warranty and if it doesn't have you should take it to a nearest service center that would be able to open the computer and check if the ribbon is loose or damage.

Trying to get internet access.hp1710n, have had this difficulty for sometime, also you have eliminated my email sinc i couldn't gain access. thank you s/g.mccurley 744 5531

First check all connections to ensure that they are working fine. Next Ensure that the computer sees the Network by clicking on start and then hit connect to and open up all connections. If your computer sees it great but if not you will need to do some tests. I will get to that if we need to. I will also be willing to continue troubleshooting in a worst case situation. Now you will need to contact your internet service provider (ISP) if it is found.

Hope This Helps

If you move your laptop screen to were it works sometimes and doest work other, it sounds like it could have a loose connection in the ribbon cable. Most laptop lcd screens are connected to the main board through a brown looking ribbon cable. if this cable has become loosened, then yes it can be a DIY type job.

if you attempt to take the laptop apart, i sugguest you keep a record of what type screws go where.

Good luck!
