Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet

Open Question

I've got a Easynote MV51-120 laptop. The screen keeps flashing and going off and on. Sees like a loose connection. How do I gain access to the ribbon cable to allow me to inspect for loose connections etc?

SOURCE: I am going to replace ribbon cable. How can I connect cable to face?

The Face cover is snapped in, so you need to use a small flat tipped screwdriver  and run it around the black and silver plastic cover, and it should snap off. Take Your Time!

Essential you have one license allowed and it checks the primary HD via its 'utilities function', and only does a general scan of slave. Since you did not mention Norton version nor your OS general assist here. You might consider going into Options and having it scan both HDs, worked for me.

You must configure the Wireless adapter to the right IP, Gateway and DNS values.
Looks like the Network card is configured properly, that is why you connect when wired.

If you are talking about the DC jack in the laptop, it will need to be replaced or repaired, the laptop must be dismantled down to the motherboard level to access the plug.

Hi

Error code F1 means that an error with the keypad has occurred. Usually it happens due to loose ribbon cable on the keypad or the electronic control assembly itself going bad. To resolve this issue first, disconnect the power to unit and then gain access to the back of the clock assembly (Electronic Range Control/ERC). Now unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC, it would be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide and make sure that the cable is not broken and nothing is shorted on the keypad. After this is done insert the cable back and then plug the unit back to check. If the error is still there then the electronic control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The screen on my lap top has had 3 very thin lines across the screen but if you tilt it they go now sometimes they screen fades away and i have to move the screen again this is getting worse could it be...

I'm a laptop repair technician, and in my experience the very thin horizontal or vertical lines are usually caused by malfunction in the display panel and the entire screen has to be replaced. If might be worth a shot for you to try and reseat the LCD cable though, but I doubt that it will work.

Hp pavilion dv4 screen will not work. everything

Few trouble shoot solution when it comes to these HP Laptop from 08-09.

1). Remove battery and ram. Plug in AC Adapter and insert only ONE RAM into a slot. Boot up and see if this will turn on display (it work on a HP Dv4-1225dx) IF it works then shut down and re insert the two ram and should be good to go :)

2). If your tech savvy remove keyboard and gain access to LCD flex ribbon cable to check if cable is loose (or go on a limb and replace the lcd flex cable ). I would detach it and re attach the ribbon back to motherboard. ( This happen sometimes by chance)

3). Your LCD is shot dead so it will need to be replaced. Current used LCD can range from $40-$50 and new ones with warranty $60-$100. HP is set up for easy LCD removal so shouldn't take more then 30mins to replace, just be careful when handling the ribbon and inverter cables.

GOOD LUCK

White line on screen easynote mv35-202

Hi,

It looks like that the ribbon cable connected on the logicboard to your screen is the one that is causing the issue. What you should do is to have it checked by the manufacturer (Gateway) if it still has warranty and if it doesn't have you should take it to a nearest service center that would be able to open the computer and check if the ribbon is loose or damage.

Sounds like you are correct about the loose connection. There is a thin ribbon cable that powers the monitor.

You will have to download instructions for taking your laptop apart, but once you do, simply reseat the ribbon cable. That should fix it! Good Luck.

Laptop screen keeps going fuzzy!

The display connector contact on the motherboard is loose. If you can open the casing, you'll see a ribbon cable from the LCD part connecting to the motherboard. The connector is usually rectangular and connects downwards. Try pressing it in firmly.

Toshiba screen goes blank when it is opened too far

Sounds like a problem with the ribbon for the screen being either having a loose connection or getting nipped. Pretty common on laptops because the ribbon runs along by the hinges on the base and then up to the screen.

Hopefully you will be able to access the ribbon on your model by removing the plastic bezel which lies just above the keyboard. The ribbons I have seen are about 1/2 inch wide and as I said connect on the base and the screen. The connection just pushes in. If its loose at the connection on the base then obviously push the connection fully home. If it's getting nipped then reseat it so that it does not get caught. ***NOTE*** a problem could arise if the ribbon has actually been damaged from being nipped - opening the laptop could cause it more damage and then you could lose the screen until you replace with a new ribbon. These can normally be purchased on places like Ebay and don't cost an arm and a leg.

If this helps, I'd appreciate feedback so other people can use this as a solution. Thanks

System does not boot Possible Hard drive issue

Hiya. Why replace the hard drive? When you say your computer failed to boot - are you sure it wasn't booting? Maybe it did boot but your screen remained blank. It sounds more like a screen problem, quite likely the ribbon connection is loose or it could be damaged. Its a very common problem and tilting the screen moves the ribbon a fraction and it then makes the connection. Try switching on and if the screen is totally blank, no message at all, no flashing cursor then its the screen. If you wanted to be 110% sure, easiest way is to connect laptop to an external screen and test it that way. Hope this is helpful.
