Question about Printers & Copiers

5 Answers

I have an Epson DX3800 printer that has always printed beautifully and suddenly the blue ink cartridge doesn't seem to print. It is a practically new cartridge and I have cleaned the heads and no improvement... Any suggestions how to fix this?.. Clearly it is just the blue cartridge feed that is the problem... Can i manually unclog it?

I have done all that short of taking it to a technician... Frankly I don't accept a post of "take it to a technician" as an answer to my problem. This is a new cartridge... I have cleaned the print heads (which I said in my original post) 3 times. I was wanting to know if there was a way to unclog the printhead myself. If I wanted to pay out for a technician I wouldn't have paid to post this problem here.

Hi,

Initially as you posted, the blue print head is clogged. Unfortunately, the only way to remove the clog is to clean the said head which of course equals to wasting ink. There is a software that could assist the cleaning by performing a deep cleaning. Additionally, this utility has some other features that may be of use. Pls download, install and run SSC Service Utility for Epson Printers. Please note that your particular printer is included among the list of units it would work on.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Check that the tape is off the print head.

These print heads when new are not subject to clogging.

So also check that the cartridge is inserted correctly by removing it and reinserting it.

Thanks,

First, I would try cleaning through the software - usually it has a "cleaning" option in the printer preferences.
It seems, as you said, there might be something clogging the blue cartridge, or maybe the blue cartridge output.
I would try getting a new blue cartridge and see if the problem is with the cartridge itself, or the "head" that holds it in the printer that might be clogged.
IF you get the same results with a new cartridge, the printer "head" must be cleaned - preferably by a technician.

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

My Epson Stylus CX3810 will no longer print. Tried going through the cleaning head cycle many times and replacing all ink cartridges. only get a faint partial blue line when I print allignment page.

most nearest problem is that ink head not working may be some ink stock inside and no maintenance for that, you need to replace printer head assembly. practically its better to buy a new one.

Changed cartidges & now black and blue don't print on C88+

Try to remove and reinstall the blue and black cartridge and check if you punctured the plastic cap underneath the cartridge itself. then reinstall it and make sure you hear a click or it snaps in. try head cleaning cycle from the utility and print a nozzle check pattern. If same output maybe carts are bad. If that is a genuine epson ink cartridge, call epson and have the ink cartridges replace since they are new ones and for sure epson will send inks since you just bought it. make sure you have date of purchase handy.

pls dont 4get to rate solution if it helps... thanks!!
