I purchased my STR_DE485 receiver 5yrs ago. Recently I turned it on, but got no sound trying all functions. I took it to our local Sony Service Tech who traced fault to IC201 function select IC. I have tried sourcing the part from NZ but to no avail. Is this part still available anywhere else? They said they would fit it if I could find it. Also bearing in mind, (I don't know if this is relevant) our power is 230-240 wtts. Natts

unfortunately, electronics go obsolete very quickly, and the cost to repair a specific unit is so close to that of purchasing a new replacement that very few places stock parts or do repairs these days.
Unless electronics repair is a passion or hobby of yours, you will spend much time and effort trying to get parts, time trying to replace the defective parts (a waste of time and money if you aren't absolutely certain which parts are bad).
Since the complete board is no longer available, troubleshoot to the compnent level and replace the individual items on the defective board, or just get a new receiver.
if u are using bose speaker system then remember one thing. go to speaker setup and select all the speakers as large not small. then only u will get a good tone. bose speakers will handle the output power of ur amplifier.
u can only adjust the bass and treble of ur frond Channel speakers. for that
select multi channel surround sound and the increase and decrease the bass and treble
please make sure that the connections are firm. Then check if the input mode is set to auto in. Also try to change the sound field on the receiver and try. If the issue perform reset by turning OFF the receiver and press n hold the MODE button along with the power button till S.F clear appears on the receiver and try. You can also try to disconnect and reconnect the power cord from wall outlet for 2 minutes and try.
