Sorry, no. Sony intends the HVL-FH1100 for use only with their video cameras and they consider the A55 to be a still, not a video, camera. Yes, the A55 has limited video capabilities, but it's not really a video camera.
There's a diopter adjustment dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn this dial while looking through the viewfinder to adjust it to your eyesight.
The a55 doesn't use Compact Flash cards. It uses Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC cards. SDHC cards max out at 32GB. Larger SDXC cards will not work in the a55.
Quantaray makes lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Nikon mount, for example, will not fit onto a Sony A55. If the lens has the Sony mount then it will work fine with the A55.
