Question about Sanyo PLC XU35 Multimedia Projector

Intermittent switching off

Sanyo proxtrax connected to Promethean Interactive board, powers up and works fine but is switching itself off at random times

Panasonic PT AE 1000U projector. I replaced the lamp because it had a lot of run hours, but then started acting up - turning off after 5-10 minutes of showing TV/Games, etc. Once lamp was replaced, I reset the lamp run hours to zero per instructions. Environment is unit friendly (normal humidity, temperature, etc.) Nothing wild like unit being bumped against or dropped or dropped on. Now the unit keeps powering down every 5 minutes after turn on. I have to turn the unit power off, and then wait 30 seconds before turning back on. Sometimes it helps, other times (most times) it just reverts to powering down every 5 minutes.

Try to provide better cooling for the projector.

1. Check the ventillation for the hall
2. Check the cooling air circulation fan
3. See whether anything is blocking the air supply

Verify loose connection of power cable.

If nothing works out, it may mean that the life of the lamp is fading.... :(

Try a friend near you for replacing it.

open the case, and reseat the ribbon cable at both ends.
5 screws on the bottom and 3 screws inside the lamp housing to open the case. Be careful not to break the 2 plastic clips in the back.
Also check the micro switch on the lamp door is working correctly.

Prm35 white dots

The white dots mean that the DLP chip has dead pixels. This can't be repaired by your average Joe or Josephine. The only time I ever "fixed" this problem (I fix these professionally), was when I happened to have another PRM-35 that had a bad power supply board. I was able to take the whole lens assembly (which includes the DLP chip) out of that machine and put it into the one with the little white dots. Check and see if it is still under warranty. If you have some extended plan, maybe you can get it replaced.

Can you connect a Mac ProBook laptop to a ProxTrax Multiverse?

Hello. There is no "device" needed to connect the units together...You'll need a cable that is"mini display port to vga". In order to connect the projector to the laptop, the cable has to have the special Apple connector which fits into a specific socket on the back of the laptop. The other end is just a standard vga connector which is plugged into the computer input on the projector. Hope I helped you!

Sanyo LCD Projector

Hi smnheffernan

If there is no LED's switching on , then you can definitely rule out the lamp.

Try opening up the unit by taking out all the screws at the bottom and taking of the top cover.

Then repalce the fuse that is on the Powersupply Board ( the one that has the AC socket on it )

If the problem there after still exists , you will have to replace the Powersupply Board.

Hope this is of help and thanks for using Fixya !

Don't forget to select the Fn key and F4 on HP laptops. It could also be the Fn key and F8 depending on the laptop brand. It is the apple key and the F7 key on a Mac notebook. On Laptops this will toggle the video to the aux port where the monitor cable connects to the projector. There are 3 modes. video on the laptop screen, video on the laptop and projector, or video to the projector only.
