Sony handycam dcr-hc40 will not power on

It could be the lcd cable.

The touch screens in these can shift. Can you rotate the screen and get the screen to work? if so it's possible if your skilled to recenter the screen then resecure it. of course you might end up having to replace it. hello its ruttine problem ,just change the lcd FLAP and you can use the touchscreen.its not to wory about that

Had the same.after stopped showing anything and the rest was working perfectly. Changed the flex wire connecting camcorder and it's like new. got from the repair shop and did it by miself. Good luck

Had the same problem. It's ainternal flex wire connecting LCD with camcorder. Got from the repair shop did it by miself and it's like knew. It's very common in sony. it's worth repair Good luck

flexible wire connecting between LCD board and camera main board is cracked or broken and requires replacement.
Let me know to provide you part number of flexible wire if you want to replace it yourself.

How did this happen?? I mean, all of a sudden you started gettin this image or after some repairs or you happen to drop the camera ??? pls specify.

if you power the camcorder from the call socket, if it works that mean the battery has bad.

don't do it. $150 is good price
