SOURCE: unable to start laptop
I understand the urgency and also the importance of data stored in the laptop.
As the laptop is unable to start in normal mode let us try in safe mode.
Follow the steps below:
1. Turn the laptop off completely.
2. Press the power on button to turn it on and at the same time simultaneously keep tapping ' F8 ' key on key pad until you see a advanced boot options screen.
3. Select 'safe mode' and hit enter.

u will need to open the laptop, there on the mainboard u will find a battery, u have to remove the main battery and remove the laptop from current. its a small round battery u have to remove it for some 5secs just to clear the bios memory, then put it back back. the password wont be here. if there is no round battery then u will find a jumper that u have to short it. else remove the hard disk use a USB cable transfer cable to use it on another pc or laptop to recover your information

Simply go to Start / Run type in msconfig, select startup and untick all programmes except antivirus and any others you do want osee in lower right task bar. It will ask for restart, do so and add tick in the box that appears on startup. This will also speed up your startup.

SOURCE: Hi I just bought an HP
Hi Kathryn, it may just be that facebook's servers are overloaded or some wider-network issue so your PC cant establish a connection with facebooks servers. Perhaps you can just wait for a few hours or try again tomorrow to see if there are any changes.
In the meantime, try downloading any updates for your browser (I suggest using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome over Internet Explorer) and then try again. It may just be a browser issue that gets in an endless loop trying to load some parts of Facebook's page, and an update of the browser should fix the problem.
