I know that my ethernet port is not working. I looked inside the tower and the eternet port and 2 usb ports are inside a small silver metal box. How can I replace the ethernet port?

Your ethernet port is probably integrated into the motherboard of your computer. Have you tried reinstalling the driver for the ethernet?

If the port is truly bad, my suggestion would be to purchase an ethernet card or NIC (Network Interface Card) and have it installed. You can get them for $15 to $25 at any big box computer store.

Usb ports wont work on a1217n pavillion desktop

None of them? Front or back? Turn on the computer and notice the screen to see what key ist says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup during the boot process. Once you get in look to make sure the USB is enabled.

Hopefully you are not trying to put some new device into the port that might be too advanced for your system. Some systems can't handle things like a 1TB external drive.

Make sure you try something in the usb port that you know worked in the past and try different ports.

I purchased a QVS brand USB, type A to B, high speed cable to connect my Dell 944 Photo printer to my HP Pavillion 7965 PC. I cannot find a receptable piece on the back of the PC to accommodate it. Do this...

it should not require an adapter the bigger usb portion goes into the printer and the smaller will fit into your usb on your computer back ports. if the ports are to big you bought a mini usb adapter on accident. let me know if this helps.

If you have problem with the hard drive ypur computer dont start still on a black screen whith a messege.

Pretty self explanatory, the only ports that you can mix up is the keyboard and mouse. Its actually marked if you look closely at rear panel.

HP 4450 desktop, not have a ethernet port

No you can't.
But you have ywo other options to use broadband connection.
1. Use a USB modem, or
2. Install a network card to be able to use an ethernet cable.

A network card cost around $10.00.

Go to Printers . Put curser over the Printer icon . Press Right button on mouse . Go to bottom of meue PROPERTIES> when open at top menue selct ports. Configure port. other approach deleat printer and reinstall new printer. during set up will ask what port. USB sometimes uses virtual printing Ports. Another aproach is if USB ..Just pull cable from computer and stick in some other USB port forcing computer to reload driver to that port.
