Question about Dell UltraSharp 1907FP 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

I want to connect a Ultrasharp 1907 FPt monitor to my Dell inspiron. I have a power cable and also one from monitor to lappy, do I need a driver?

I bought a Dell 19" monitor to work beside my Dell Inspiron 6000 but there were no instructions included. Not being techcnically minded in any way I was wondering what I have to do to get it working. It has a power cable and I have also connected it to the lappy with another cable.......Can I download a users manual from somewhere? thanks

Wow that was simple when you know how!!! After I adjusted the screen size - as it was HUGE - I will now get used to it. I would still like to know if there is a users manual so that I know what else I can use it for and also how to adjust the height on the stand. There is a round button to release the monitor and another long one that seems to do nothing.

    Thanks heaps for your trouble.

    Cheers

Most monitors now-a-day are pnp or upnp (Plug-n-play or Universal Pug-n-Play) So drivers are not always needed. In windows open control panel and then display then screen resolution. This will allow you to choose whether to use you laptop monitor or an external. Now here it will detect external as well as your laptop monitor. Use the pull down menu to make your selection or in the image click the second monitor. If you want you can make this your main display by checking the (Make this my main display) box. Personally with my experience this will disable your actual laptop monitor even if the external one is not connected.
Once you make your selection and click ok to all desired, I suggest going into the power options. If use like myself use and external mouse/keyboard. In power options, you want to edit any of the plans or create one. In the edit plan settings window select change advanced power settings. A window pops open "Power Options" look for "POWER BUTTON AND LID". Expand to see the options there should be 3 options : Lid close action - Power button action - Sleep button action. Select Lid close action No it asks 2 questions one for if running battery and other if plugged in. I put sleep under the battery section and do nothing in the plugged in section. So now once these options are all configured you can close the lid on your laptop and feel as if using a desktop.

Should you need the manual for you monitor, Product Support
This is for the 1908fp Don't think there is a major difference.
There are no drivers however for the monitor so It should work fine.
Not sure what version of Windows you are using but do know that in windows 8/8. if you push windows key + p you will be given 4 options for connecting a second monitor . PC only - Duplicate - Extend - Second screen only.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hi,
to toggle the screen between your laptop and the dell 19" monitor. Hold down the Fn key on the laptop and tap the F8 key. The screen would move to the external display.

There are three settings that can be done by the Fn + F8 key combination
1. Both the laptop and external monitor works
2. Only the external monitor would work
3. Only the laptop screen works

Thanks

Dell? 1703 FPT. Where can I obtain a manual?

Actually there are not many options to contol manually a Dell monitor.. Here you have a setup manual

Found these specifications.

Up to my knowledge, controls are mostly intuitive. Monitors have some buttons under lover right border, where you can manipulate some properties. Search for them.

Monitor power problem

Hi ,

Kindly check when the display cable is removed from the system and monitor powered on do you get any "Out of Sync Error". Then the monitor is fine and issue with the system or Display card. Check if your system boots and also unscrew the system and clean the Display card and re-insert. If its an on board card then just do a preventive maintenance of your system as it can happen due to loose connections also.
Regards.

It can be fixed for pretty cheap (Under $50) if you're not afraid to do a little tinkering. It is either the inverter board or the ccfl tube. Parts are cheap on ebay and service manuals are available on dell's support site. All you need is a small phillips screwdriver. Good luck.

USB outlets

I'm assuming you are speaking of the USB ports on the Monitor?

Do you have the USB cable running from the back of your computer to the back of your monitor? For those ports to work, you need a USB cable that runs from the computer to your monitor. This is a cable in addition to the power cable and the video cable. Verify you have three cables connected.

If you are not speaking about the USB ports on the monitor, please advise...

Dell 1907fp USB port not working

The big question is do you have the USB uplink cabled from the monitor, connected to a USB port on the system?

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/1907FP/en/about.htm#Bottom%20View

Item #5 needs to be connected to your system's USB port via a USB cable. The ports on the monitor are just a USB hub.
