Broken brake cable

Hello, Our Bugaboo Frog was moved out of the way by someone, while the brake was fully on. The brake no longer works and I can see the broken end of the brake cable when I unscrew the nut at the base of the brake cable tube near the wheel. Can this be replaced? We live in Marseille, France; any suggestions about where to buy parts/take it for repair? Many thanks Aileen McGonigal

Just had our Frog brake cable replaced by the local bicycle repair man. It cost £5 and took 20 minutes!

I used the Contact Us link on the bugaboo site to send them an email and let them know that my Frog's cable had snapped (after 6 years of fairly constant use for 3 kids) and they are sending me a replacement one free of charge. I tried the bike shop route but the cable is not quite a standard bicycle one - it is "double-ended" and our local bike shops couldn't help me.

Our cable broke recently 1 week after the 2 year warrantee period; I contacted Bugaboo customer service and they provided us with a no hassle replacement of the chassis; my friend who had the same issue however had escalate escalate escalate til eventually she found someone senior enough who sent her the replacement cable (cost about $10 - 15) with VERY easy instructions to install...she did it herself in about 10 minutes she said...and it works like new. There is no real reason to replace the chassis; if you escalate enough you can get this repaired.
My experience with customer service however was stellar.

Aileen, Take it to a bicycle shop. This is a standard bike cable. I'm having a hard time fixing mine, but I bet they could do it. Phil

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Can I modify the handle bars on a Frog? I need to lower them for Mum under 5ft tall? Take then off and replace with adjustable handlebar? Which part would I need to purchase? Is it in stock? price?

The Cameleon has the adjustable handle it is not available as a part only as a complete chassis for around $400 www.babycare.nl/bugaboo-cameleon-chassis-p-2466.html. Your Frog wheels, seat etc would fit. If you found a broken Cam frame on eBay you could swap the handles. Your Frog would have the parts required to fix the Cam. Click on this link to my tips section www.fixya.com/support/r7805199-fix_bugaboo_handle_lock. Note as you don't need the old Frog handle you could try prizing off and reusing the domes but I don't recommend that. Brake cable is compatible.

The brake of my bugaboo frog broke. I had someone watching my son and she broke the brake someone. Is that fixable?. The brake wire that goes from the brake handle to the wheels broke. What could I do?

If it is less then two years old and you have proof of purchase Bugaboo will replace the whole frame. If older you have a problem. What part is broken? Find your nearest Bugaboo agent and see if you can scrounge a broken frame off them for the parts. I doubt they ship the warranty returns back to Holland. If that won't fly try a plastic welder, It won't look pretty but it'll work.

The brake is locked on full, how do i take the brake off?

You have too much tension on the cable. When you press the brake button the lever has to move sightly forward to disengage the ratchet teeth. Try pushing the lever on a bit more as you press the button. If that doesn't work check the cable adjuster at the end of the cable, if it can be wound down a bit that would help. If this all fails take out the two screws holding the break lever to the handle. It's a very simple mechanism of a lever, release button and spring. The ratchet teeth are on the outer edge of the button and the inside surface of the handle. Once working give the whole brake system a good coat of silicon spray. Lubricant won't effect the toothed brake system of a Bugaboo but wear on the teeth does!

Hello! I have a Bugaboo Frog but the handle bar has been broken ( the small plastic clip at the end of the bar ) I just don't know where can I buy one!!!

Fill it up with a Quick fix material and cover it with a solid broad Tape - cheap and best solution though it is temporary

Hi,

Your best option is to contact www.bugaboo.com who will advise as to whether they have any spares left for the Frog.

I hope this helps.
