HTC Touch -- Drops Connection to cell tower

Phone keeps dropping connection to Cell Network. Keeps searching for Network all the time.  Tried the sim card in another phone and problem goes away. So the issue is not with the Network or cell company.
Not sure what caused this. Have been having this issue since yesterday.

I've been getting the same problem for the past few weeks with my i-mate SPL on the Orange network in Southampton.

It's better in the city centre but at home on the outskirts its awful and it used to be good.

I thought the radio on the phone had gone first but this doesn't appear to be the case.

I phoned Orange and they are working on a number of masts in the area so I am hoping this is what is causing the problem. I suspect that certain phones are more prone to weak signal problems. Tried my SIM in an old Nokia and the signal scales up and down constantly.

So hopefully once they've finished playing with the masts it will be this space.

My HTC touch does the same thing. I checked with my service provider and the sim card is fine. The problem is that the phone was set to work in Asia so it keeps looking for a network in one of the Asian countries.

My phone now has a new motherboard now. It had to be replaced. So thats the only fix for this problem ! Luckily it is still under warranty. Good luck.

Well, I'm in Asia (Singapore) and it spends half it's life looking for the network here too (Singapore's largest). Similar problems in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia. Generally finds a connection when I go to 'Airplane Mode' then back, but how often can this be feasibly done every day? Hopeless when it's in my pocket, and my boss won't let me work with it strapped to my head. Pity I bought it second hand and out of warranty. I now know the reason it was available second hand!

I find the HTC touch drops many more calls than other phones I've had. Just doesn't seem to be able to hold a weak signal very well. On my way home from work, I had 2 places where I dropped calls. When I got the HTC Touch, I now have about 4 or 5 places where I lose calls. One additional place is sitting at my desk at work. Very frustrating!

Searching for a phone but cant find

Talk to your carrier, they are probably 'rejecting' your SIM card/CDMA identification number off the network for some reason, maybe you didn't pay your bills?

Nothing should be wrong with the phone, its completely to do with your cell provider/carrier.

HTC touch phone not working

You kow how many second hand nokias you can buy for the same price as a new HTC???

Well plenty to really use them as a disposable phone.

with one HTC you only have ONE disposable phone which won't last as long as 10 second hand nokias. (or other phones as long as they ar not HTC
