USB PORTS my girlfriend had a computer built for her and she didnt realize that the usb ports never worked. I put a new usb card in the computer those didnt work either. The usb ports are hardwired into the mother board. I have checked the bios and the usb is turned on. Do I need to change anything else in the bios? Any suggestions on what may be the problem and how i can fix it?

OMG, ANOTHER HORROR STORY OF CUSTOM BUILT COMPUTERS! THE THINGS PEOPLE DO WITH THESE COMPUTERS, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO WORK ON THEM. I'M REALLY SORRY YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS, AND NOT KNOWING THE COMPUTER MAKE I'M GOING TO SUGGEST TRYING SOMETHING THAT MIGHT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. YOU SAY THE USB PORTS WERE HARDWIRED TO THE MOTHERBOARD AND THEY ARE ON. THIS MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. HAVE YOU TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF AND THEN INSTALL THE USB CARD AND REBOOT? SEE IF THE COMPUTER WILL RECOGNIZE THE NEW USB CARD IN THE SLOT INSTEAD. THIS MIGHT DO THE TRICK. HAVING THE HARDWIRED USB TURNED ON WOULD CAUSE A CONFLICT WITH TRYING TO INSTALL ANOTHER USB CARD. ALSO, HAVE YOU TRIED USING A USB MINI-HUB INSTEAD? POSSIBLY THE MINI HUB MIGHT BE AN EASIER SOLUTION, SINCE THEY SELDOM NEED ANY SOFTWARE ETC. TO FUNCTION. I HOPE THIS GIVES YOU A COUPLE OF IDEAS TO TRY AND POSSIBLY SOLVE THIS STICKY PROBLEM. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP JUST REPLY TO:

Xl 400 singer futura usb port shows up not connected everytime we try to use the embroidery software. Software will not appear.

I have a singer quantum xl5000 embroidery machine. One Thing I can tell you is that you have to use the original cord that came with the Card writer. The cables that come with the card writer is a null modem Cable. It suppresses the modem signal through the computer to the cable. Then you can adapt it to say USB with another cable. You hook your new cable to the cable that came with the card writer. The original cable must be hooked to the card writer first. Then use an adapter or the new cable to hook to the computer. The new cables Must also have a fdti chipset in them. If you have all that your computer will be able to talk to the card writer and it will work. If it still doesn't work then your USB port needs a new driver. You might check the USB port first to make sure the drivers good. That's very simple just go into the control panel on your computer click system folder and go down through the list until you see the USB ports your porch should be listed. Just click on the file and see if it says working properly if it doesn't realize the driver

Software is unable to find Olympus Digital camera connected to USB port

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Usb ports are bogus. You can always install a pci usb card though. Beats replacing the mo bo since you have already tried everything else to no avail.

Where do you put a n SD card into a computer?

Some computers have a built-in SD card slot along with other types to read the cards. If yours does not have the slots, you can purchase an external adapter that can plug into a USB port.

yess use the ports in the back of the computer I had the same problem with my mouse before which was also usb port connection. The reason why I say to hook it up to the back usb ports is that it is built onto the motherboard and therefore it would get recognized alot quicker if you put it there if you find that whatever you have hooked up dont have alot of usb ports buy yourself a usb hub i bought one for 2.00 it does the trick when you are limited to usb connections
