The above posting is mine and I don't know how to fix this problem but it is actually the TV not the DVD and I corrected this when I wrote the note but it defaulted bact to the dvd is the TV that is having the problem.

When I try to scroll through the menu the display goes will not stay on long enough to see what the settings are. If I click the display button it will come back...but as soon as I start to scroll through the icons on the top it will go away as soon as I let go of the button. Of course then is comes back right away.

The TV is a Memorex MT 2024 It is about 2 years old.

When I try to do what you say ..:

I scroll through the menu...and the one you refer to is the one that is stuck up....I can scroll through the icons on the top but as soon as I get to the one with the sleep feature it goes away. when I start scrolling it will deiplay that mene function very breifly and then it will go away. Only to come right back.
THe pink icon on the far left is constantly blinking.

Most likely you will have to change the Timer settings:
    To change
    the timer, follow these steps:

    1. Press the "Menu" button on the remote to bring up the "Image" menu.

    2. Use the Arrow right button on the remote to scroll to "OSD Setup"
Press the "OK" button on the remote.

    3. Use the Arrow down button on the remote to highlight "OSD Timer"
Press the "OK" button on the remote.

    4. Use the Arrow right button on the remote to change the time from x
Sec. to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, Etc. Once the right time is selected, Press
    the "OK" button.

    5. Press the "EXIT" button to exit out of the menu.

Let me know if that works or not..

My screen color is a neg. picture....tried adjusting contrast,sharpness,ect...nothing is working

The player has a serious video problem, cause bad laser pickup, video processor chip, or the LCD screen is faulty. To fix this type of issue would not be productive, cheaper to get a new player.

Dvd pink color

Usually it is a setting in the menu somewhere that causes this--if all else fails read the owner manual cover to cover.

I have seen several with this issue and all were a setting wrong.

Won't play in color

If set it is hooked to works ok then look in the DVD player menu (this problem is listed under DVD players) for a setting that will make picture have no color (perfect black and white image).

If no, you may have a circuit problem in the unit and unless it is an expensive and newer one---replace the entire player.

My philips dvp3560 will only playback in black and white

Check the TV System menu:

[TV System]
Change this setting if the video does not appear
correctly. By default, this setting matches the most
common setting for TVs in your country.
• [PAL] - For a PAL-system TV. (European TVs)
• [Multi] - For TV that is compatible with both
• [NTSC] - For an NTSC-system TV. (American TVs)

Also try:

[Picture Setting]
Select a predefined set of picture color settings or
customize the personal setting.
• [Standard] - Original color setting.
• [Bright] - Vibrant color setting.
• [Soft] - Warm color setting.
• [Personal] - Customize the color setting. Set
the level of brightness, contrast, tint and color
saturation, then press OK

Composite output has ghosting around the video (sort of an auro around all images on screen, including text and video). dvd menu also has this problem, so i verified that it is the output of the recorder...

Try reducing your sharpness value on either your TV or the player if applicable. Also disable any edge enhancement or "DVE" modes on the TV if applicable.

The easiest way to adjust sharpness control by the naked eye is with a calibration disc. Alternatively however, just for sharpness if you have a screen full of text and/or lines do the following;

Reduce your color/saturation value all the way down...this will make the picture black and white.

Then reduce your sharpness control until the "ghosting" effect or any additional white lines on text edges and line edges disappear.
Then you can return your color/saturation value back to normal.

Hope this helps!

Depending on the dvd player, most of them have a tool section where you can pick-up the contrast, brightness, and hue. This is the problem most of the time. It is not controlled by the display tools in the control window

SHARP BD-HP16U Cannot Play

Try this....
You need to force the player to the the Top Menu of the disc.
The way to do this is: load disc, wait until it says "Reading Completed" (about 1 minute).

Wait for the PLAY icon ">" to show in the upper right corner (this may take up to 30-40 secs).

Once you see the ">" Hit the STOP button on the remote to get to the player's splash screen.

From the Sharp splash screen Hit the "Top Menu/Title List" button on the remote and wait for the circulating dots and then the disc menu appears.
Play the movie from the menu and you should be good to go.
