No picture or sound

I was watching the set and the picture started to bow down from the top and up from the bottom. Picture between was not clear and color was distorted then within a few minutes the picture and sound went out. The red light indicating the set is on or was still on.

OK, the set came back on both picture and sound. I went into manually align the red and blues with the green. Once that was done it fixed the blur vision and the color, however i still have a picture that is bowed down from the top and up from the bottom. Could you tell me what that could be and what kind of cost might be coming my way. The town i live in does not have many repair shops and the set would have to be fixed in home from out of town repair shop which would raise the service call. It is a 6 year set never had any problems before, but i don't want to spend alot on it. Thanks for your help and advise. Dean

Sir,

t sounds like it needs a new set of lamps and the convergence will of course need to be done.

'convergence' simply means .... to align the 3 CRT globes inside it so the picture each one produces sits exactly on top of the images the others send onto the screen. This gives you your full colour picture.

check out with local repair shop. or i you have within warranty period call immediately

thanks
good luck

Try to unplug the power cable of your TV for about 10 minutes then plug it back in. If the same poroblem persists, there's an internal component on the circuit board that might have been burned. Perhaps mainly the fuse and capacitor. You need to take the TV's cover off and visually look for burned components.

Samsung TSL2793HF - Slight Right Side Pincushion and Horz Line Bottom to Top Until the TV Warms up

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

73" REAR PROJECTION MITSUBISHI STARTED DOING 3D

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Replaced Convergence Board picture still bowed

Today may be your lucky day. Approach this procedure with extreme caution and take your time. Sometimes when you replace that board you have to do a full digital convergence alignment. With tv off, push mute,1,8,3,power. Tv will come on in service mode. Certain buttons can now screw up the set in a major way, do not guess. press 7 to adj. red, 8 for green, or 9 for blue. Then look for the highlighted "x" intersection. Use directional buttons to adj. while careful to watch screen. Vol+ and - or ch+ and - make moves, mute moves cursor. If alignments move up, down, left, and right continue until all intersections are aligned. Turn power off to start over. When done press add/del on remote to save settings. That should fixya.
