Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My washer will not rinse or spin. Once it hits the rinse cycle, it just stops but it sounds like the washer is still running. There's just this quiet buzzing noise. I removed the front cover to see if I could notice anything obvious, and when I started the cycle I saw some battery looking thing (reads 120V on it and it connects to a hose that I assume pumps the water from the tank) rattle like it was going into convulsions.

This was a sudden problem as I just used the washer last night to was two pillows. Could I have caused the damage to overload? What is my damage? What is wrong? And can I simply replace the part that will make my baby work again?

Yes the pillow did rip because it got snagged on the lid. I ended up removing all the loose stuffing from inside the washer when I removed the front panel. Is that was caused this problem?

Thanks for your suggestion...I tried it.

Well, I checked the hose and nothing seems to be clogging it. I re-assembled everything and tried to run the spin cycle again and the water tank makes a jolt but then stops like it's jammed. I guess that can be considered progress seeings that it didn't do that when things first started going wrong. Then again it could mean more damage. I'm not an expert.

    I think I am at a loss...

Thank you so much...Your helped really means a lot to me.

Try the pump, did the pillow rip?

Posted on Nov 04, 2008

  • some of the stuffing from the pillow could have jammed the pump. you can check it by removing as much water as you can from the top , tip the machine back and remove the hose from the tub to the pump. Warning you when you take the hose of the pump there will be water draining from the hose so be ready for it. then see if you can pull all the stuff out of the pump. do this with the machine unplugged.

Machine will not spin or drain water.

I have a problem with my MW512AU. Sometimes it drains after wash cycle, but sometimes it sticks when it goes to spin, doesn't get up to speed, water comes on for about 10 seconds and shuts off, and it tries to spin again. If I hit the wash progress switch it goes directly to final spin and works ok. I then have to run a 2nd wash cycle to rinse the clothes. I also noticed a buzzing sound when I turn on the power point, which lasts about 3 seconds before stopping. It will come back on every 3-4 minutes for 30 seconds. This is with the machine power switch off. It powers on normally.

WASHER SHUTS OFF BEtween wash cycle and rinse

Sounds like you have a bad timer. Simply purchase the timer. Remove the screws on the backside of the control panel and remove the defective unit. Replace the timer keeping careful attention on the placement of the original wiring. Also, when you have trouble with the unit not running for rinse and spin cycles, it is generally a good idea to replace the lid switch as well.

Washing machine won't spin or aggatate

We had the same problem and it was really easy to fix. On the dial for the load size, turn it all the way to the right to "reset" and then check to see if it resolves the problem. It did with our washer same model and problem. Best wishes.... Doug

Ge front load washer won't go into rinse cycle.

Check the cold water hose. My brand new machine had this behavior until I discovered a kink in the cold water hose - works great now.
