Normally once you've got a bad sector on your hard drive you'll find another one more often, try this utility >> click here

My computer hanging in searching previous versions Microsoft windows

not sure what you mean so i 'll have a guess
try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
then you should test or replace all leads make sure they are securely seated and are not bad/faulty that are attached to your hard drive the ones from your motherboard
if this fails

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your hard drive from the motherboard or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
if this fail

hope this helps

Compaq Desktop won't boot up.

Do you have your Vista installation disc? If so, you can boot from that and then run the Windows RE troubleshooter, which should be able to test your hard drive and maybe even try to repair it.

Windows xp instalation stpos givibg a blue screen in aspire m5640 desktop

Windows Xp installtion give Blue Screen of Death when XP tries to installed devices driver during installation or when the cd is corruptted and cannot be read in graphical mode installation or when the hard drive is corrupted with Bad sector.

Get a new windows XP CD and configure your system BIOS to default setting ( load optimal settings) and configured for IDE drive configuration to compatible mode or disable mode if you are using SATA hard drive.

If problem still occured, get "Bad sector recovery pro" and try to repair the hard disk.If the bad sector are unrecoverable then change the hard drive.

Sometimes, faulty RAM also give blue screen too. Check your RAM too.

I have a toshiba p205d-s7436 when you turn the laptop on a black sceen reads toshiba leading innovation i tryed putting recovery discs in will not reboot tryed f12 and f2 it will not boot up PLEASE ANY...

The first step is to check the BIOS to see if your hard drive is listed. If so, is it set to be the first boot device. To enter the BIOS, use the F2 option when prompted.

If the hard drive is not present, it's either come loose, or the drive's controller has failed.

Also, if you can use the F12 option to boot to a CD/DVD drive, use another computer to download the Ultimate Boot CD iso from http://ultimatebootcd.com, and then burn it to a CD. This will create a bootable diagnostic CD that you can use to run diagnostics of your hard drive.

Let me know how this works for you.

Sincerely,
James O'Brien

Shutdown and startup problem

when you get into windows you need to perform a surface scan of the hard drive and check it for bad sectors, i sounds like it is having difficulties reading the boot drivers, run chkdsk /f to check the disk for any problems and it should fix them for you, if the drive comes up clean with no problems then the system 32 folder is corrupt and you are looking at a full system recovery, make sure you back up all of your data while you can still use the machine

good luck

Satellite A60-A692. I opened it in order to clean it of dust. After replacing back the hard disk, the computer asks for the CD that restores the system. Even though I do not like to loose all the data that...

That error message means invalid destination disk, which means your hard drive. Often just moving your computer will cause bad things to happen!
You should back track and make sure you have all tight connections. Accidents happen!!
Possibly your hard drive went out but as a last resort, try reinstalling your operating system.
