Question about Samsung VP-D31 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Screen is black when trying to record - again!

I just saw the previous message about the black screen... I actually found it by searching on Google for "Samsung VD D31 problem". Guess what - last week the same happened to me. I am so disappointed because my camcorder is only 2 years old and I used it only moderately. It is not under warranty. What should I do now? The shop I bought it from told me to contact Samsung for a repair, but do I even need to call to find out it will be more expensive than buying a new camera? :`(

Blue screen on playback on Sony DCR-HC40

You can see an image in a camcorder viewfinder any time the camera's actually on in record mode, whether or not the camcorder is actually recording. So that's no guarantee.

Assuming the obvious (you have the right kind of tapes, they're not in write-protect mode, you rewind before playing, etc). I recommend that you borrow a tape of the same kind from someone else and check it on playback in your camcorder. This should lead you know understand if you have a playback problem or a recording problem.

Gray Lines

What do you mean by "Its only when i go to record or view previous recording"? in what situation doesn't it show the gray lines? What about the viewfinder? do you get lines there aswell? If you don't see the gray lines when you transfer the video out of the camera, then you don't have a head problem, a screen problem maybe. Don't hurry to use cleaner tapes because they can hurt the head, the actual cleaning procedure is one that scrapes the head and leaves some damage. more info please

Sony TRV-19 Camcorder - Black screen in camera mode

Fixed it, at least temporarily I had the side off my trv250 examining it, especially the CCD connection. I had read the post about soldering a capacitor to pins 1 and 3 (from the left) on the bottom row. I didn't have the specific capacitor on hand, but I started touching some of the small ones I did have to those pins. I found that after I touched a 100uF, 10V cap to pins 1 and 3 the picture suddenly came back to life and stayed that way after removing the cap. I have no idea how long this will last, and I've set up the cam on a tripod in the livingroom with the LCD display facing me so I can monitor it. If you, like me, figure you have nothing else to lose, you might want to give this a try. Note: my camera was suffering from the green smeary horizontal lines problem, and wasn't completely black. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.
