Power button doesnt work....have to use eject button and that is sketchy at best.....

rtchallenger I have the same problem. One day I was watching TV & the Xbox cut itself on & then off, in like 2 seconds. So later I went to use the Xbox & the power button wouldn't work but I could still power it on with the eject button. I got tired of unplugging the thing or waiting 6 hours for it to cut off on its own so I went to the llama site & bought the new power assembly circuit board. I installed it & I am still having the same problem. I honestly have no idea what to do with it now. I assume the part I bought isn't bad though, because the eject button still works, so I can also assume it was connected correctly or none of the buttons would work. I don't know if this matters or not but my Xbox was made in June of 2003. I will be grateful for any suggestions.

A common problem caused by corroded traces on the motherboard.

Easy to fix with a few jumper wires.

This happens often "without pounding the buttons". All four of my Xbox originals did this. You need to replace the power button assembly. It's rather easy to replace. Click this link to the part.

You been pounding on the buttons? if you havent taken apart the console and messed with the front panel. then imma assume something has been striking the buttons hard and theyve dampened in so hard that they dont work anymore "the contacts dont make good electrical contact" the best thing is to go to llama.com and order a new front pcb assembly for it.
