Burner temperature is always on high heat even at low setting
The left rear burner on my JEC9530 always heats to high even when set to the lowest heat setting. My right front dual burner quit working a few days ago also. Are the two problems related, or am I especially unlucky?

Re: Burner temperature is always on high heat even at low...
Not related any further then sounds as if you have 2 burner switches gone bad,and actually the front right burner is controlled by a electronic control circuit board part retails for about $160-$200 part number 12002723, and left rear switch about $30 part number 74007841 . uint needs to be uninstalled from counter and parts changed by removing the bottom panel

The switch for the right front burner is defective and needs to be replaced, its bad as far as internally when turned on no matter what its set it the interal contact is stuck on only high so their is no setting it will work on except high. By replacing the switch it will work on the various settings and not just high.
Sounds like a short in that particular burner circuit. Usually when the light stays on even after cool down the heat sensor is bad. This is inside the burner. If your getting white smoke the burner switch could also be shorted out.
I have replaced the switch several times, and am now tempted to replace the heating element and the switch the next time it becomes constant (currently, it is intermittent... which has led to some burnt food).
I'm having the same problem with my jec9530. The dual burner just quit working one day. I called jennair and they sent me a replacement "custom control" for free. 6 months later it quit again. I am now considering attempting to put an infinite switch (dual), part #PS786568 in its place. It is not electronic, and it looks like it is used for the jec9536 middle back dual burner. It is only $35, even if it doesn't work like the electronic one I don't care. My wife usually only uses both burners at the same time anyway.
