Question about Computers & Internet

I installed 2 1-gig sticks of memory. the notebook did recognize both, but now it is only recognizing one of them. I'm getting an error " ERROR 0232: Extended RAM failed at offset 1E" then the same message with "20" instead of the "1E"

ERROR 0232 is associated with ram failure. If the Stick of ram is new, return to place of sale and swop with another stick.

Gateway desktop fx 7026 memory issue, has 4 slots came with( 2 )2 gb sticks = 4 gigs it came with. when i add 2 extra gig it doesnt recognize.

the specs i read says 8 gig is the max. here is what it says for RAM
RAM
  • Installed Size 4.0 GB / 8.0 GB (max)
  • Technology DDR2 SDRAM
  • Memory Speed 667.0 MHz
  • Form Factor DIMM 240-pin
  • Features Dual channel memory architecture
  • Configuration Features 2 x 2 GB

check to make sure you have added the right type of memory. also look at your user manual. it should tell you where and how to place the added sticks. sometimes they have to be added in pairs or have to be in specific slots. also if you dont have the manual it is on the gateway site. you should type in your model and serial number and get all the info you need.

I installed two new 1 gigabyte memory sticks into a Dell Inspiron 6000, which previously only had 2 256 megabyte memory sticks installed. When I first installed the 2 gigs of new memory, the laptop turned...

Once you installed the memory, did you enter into the System BIOS Setup screen? Do this and verify that the system recognizes the newly installed 2GB RAM. This should let the system access the new memory once you boot.

I've installed 2 gigs of ram and it won't recognize the second stick.

The L25 series laptops can take a maximum of 2GB of memory, 1GB per slot. It should be DD2 PC-5300 spec RAM. Below is some specifications the memory should meet alongst with a compatible part number.
Part #: CT540972 • DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

Memory not recognized. 4 gig installed only 2 gig recognized by bios and windows. Vista home premium 32 bit.

2GB is quite low but you will never see the full amount of ram.
Your video card will use some and then Windows reserves some for itself.
You dont say if its 2x2gb sticks or just one, if two does bios see the full 4gb. Check the memory is properly seated. Try swapping the sticks round.

Iupgraded my memory and computer will not recognize slot 2

Don't worry about what Windows says...check your BIOS. Also the other stick must match in type ddr in speed exactly for it to work. Last choice take it out and reseat it. If it doesn't work or if the ram is damaged you will hear 4 very long beeps when you start up.

Error message after installing memory ram upgrade.....

The memory appears to be the right kind.

Try installing just one 1GB module, and run the diagnostics (press F12 at boot time and select diagnostics).

Good luck!
