Question about Onkyo Audio & Video Receivers
SOURCE: new Onkyo cd player random
You imply that this is a new unit. If so, it should still be under warranty. This sounds like there is a logic problem. Return this for warranty exchange or repair.

Is it happening at louder volume? Mine did the same thing and I thought it was a heat issue because it would mainly happen at higher volume. I felt pretty stupid when I realized it was the bass causing the CD to skip and it would take a few seconds for it to get back on track. I just repositioned CD player and problem solved!

The only possibility that comes to mind is that it may be causing a short somehow when the carousel gets to that position, maybe a broken solder joint. Another possibility is that there may be a foreign object stuck inside the player such as another disc that lost it's position.
