Laptop shutting down

My laptop shuts down while watching internet videos. It used to be just on mozilla so I would always watch on IE. Now it occurs on IE also. Now I can watch DVD's for hours and it never shuts down. Why would this occur just by watching internet videos? It now happens within seconds of the video starting so how can this be an overheating problem? It sounds more like a software problem, but then again if I knew the correct answer I wouldn't be here!

Thanks for the help.

I don't know how to edit my post. Last night someone suggested I download an updated version of Flash player. I did that and have not had a problem since! I knew that it couldn't be an overheating problem which is what most suggested because I can watch DVD's for hours with the temp going to 100 degrees. CHECK FOR SOFTWARE PROBLEMS FIRST BEFORE YOU GO TEARING APART YOUR LAPTOP.

I think you need to disable the power saving options which you will find in Control Panel -> Power Option. Make sure that every thing is set to never under When Computer is Plugged in.

I hope that this will solve your problem

I can't see my Netflix movie on my laptop I can hear it but I can't see it

Shut down other applications when watching Netflix on your computer.
If you are watching Netflix on a Windows computer, it uses a program called Silverlight to play the video. If your processor goes above 80% usage, Silverlight will shut down the video and play audio only.

To avoid this when watching a movie or lots of video's prop up your laptop with pencil or something else small and slender under the back. Just so the laptop isn't flush with the table or desk. You want airflow under the laptop. It shut down because of overheating to protect itself. Watch videos/movies can be very cpu/video card intensive driving up the temperature. Laptop gets warm near touchpad , shuts down

Sounds like it is overheating and then shutting down. Is the laptop on a hard surface or a lap or blanket? You need to have air circulation.

1st: can't open gmail w ie; 2nd ie keeps shutting down

Hi, It seems that you might have installed some addons for IE and now you are in the situation. All you need to do it open Internet Options from Control Panel. Then in Advanced tab, click on Reset. Resetting Internet Explorer resets all settings to manufactures' default and in the process you will lose all saved passwords on Internet Explorer and you will have to re-enter them again upon use. Once done, fire-up IE and click on Tools menu > Internet Options and reset IE from Advanced tab once again from here as well. It means you will reset IE two times, first from Control Panel and then from IE window itself. Once done try to use IE and see the result.
However there are few addons available with Mozilla Firefox that resembles IE inside and opens all webpages that requires IE only. Download Coral IE Tab from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10909
Installed the addons and switch the view to IE to open all webpages that supports IE only.
Cheers!

Dell Inspiron Mini 10 abruptly shuts down every time I watch video

A few things may cause this (1) your Network (2) your Network Strength (3) your Anti-Virus. Cheek all this to make sure there are ok and if there are and the problem persist, Troubleshoot, and if it continuous give it to a technician near you. Cheers

Was the direct lan still through the Belkin router? Plug straight in to your cable, dsl, satellite modem and see how the video is. Next try pcpitstop.com and run a full test. Might just need to wipe temporary internet files or whatever that full test says. N/M their defrag if you have at least 1/2 of your harddrive empty..they always say that.

your laptop may become overheated and that is why it shuts down, make sure the laptop is on a hard service so that the fan can get air. hot weather can cause problems as well.
