Question about Kitchen Ranges

Gas range makes buzzing sound which goes away when disconnected from electrical outlet.

My gas range started making a buzzing sound which is similar to the timer and is originating from behind the clock area. However, adjusting the clock and timer buttons does not eliminate the sound. Disconnecting the range from the electrical outlet is the only way to quiet the sound.

I have the same problem with a Whirlpool Electric range. The noise isn't constant. Sometimes I will plug it in with no noise but within a few hours or even a day or so later, the sound will start again.

    Hi,
my problem is similar. The buzz sound only goes away when I lock the cooktop.

Any idea on what could be the problem?
    Thanks

Possible to have abad relay on the circuit board itself, only real way to fix is to replace the control board assy

Call the manufacturer. Chances are it's a common problem and they already know about it.

The Whirlpool Gas Stove Super Capacity 465 sound like the Gas is on but the click click click that it makes when I turn on the burners is gone. The oven has no fire either...sound and smells the gas

Had a problem like this with mine..turned out to be electrical. The ignitors, that produce your clicking are controlled by electricity and circuit breaker (in power box) controlling the outlets on that area of kitchen was tripped. Hopefully your answer is this simple. Good luck!

My stove digital lights are off and it will not light. The gas do work; I can smell it when i turn it on. what should i do

Well first you want to verify that the range is getting power from your electrical outlet. It is possible that the GFCI has tripped causing no power to the outlet. Once you have verified that there is power to the range you will next need to unplug the range and remove the back panel to do a visual inspection. Verify that there are no loose or disconnected wiring. Also look for any melted wiring or parts. Also check for any burned electrical odor. There might be an inline fuse located inside the range usually located on the hot side of the incoming electrical wire. Verify that this fuse is not blown. If the fuse is bad then you could try replacing it but if it blows again then there might be a short somewhere. And make sure you replace the fuse with the same rating that you removed. If the fuse is good then you might have a bad control board.

Kenmore gas stove makes a buzzing sound

Is the door locked?? Is it an electronic buzzer sound??

hold the CLEAR button for 3 seconds - the door will unlock.
open the door - and press CLEAR for 3 seconds.
Error code may come up.... close and re-open the door.

Are there any indications on the display?

Or is this a mechanical buzzing from underneath? in this case your gas regulator's diaphragm has failed.

If the above reset doesnt wokr (and the sound is electric) your circuit board will need replacement.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Buzzing noise

The buzzing you are experiencing is most likely the electric valve solenoid coil.
That is the valve that lets gas in when the stove is turned on.
Another source of buzzing/humming can be a mechanical clock, if hter is one.
If it is digital, then it woul not make noise.

Oven not working -makes a buzzing sound when turned OFF!

You just need to adjust your door latch assm. Try putting a little oil on the latch and arm. The sound you hear is the solenoid trying to pull the latch arm all the way back to lock the door. Even though it is pulling the arm back and the door locks it may not be all the way back. A little lubrication will fix the problem.

Igniter

Does the knob control both the gas and spark, try turning on the knob only, if it starts to spark right away then it is possible that the switch is bad. because most of these units are designed where you turn on the gas then push in and hold the knob to ignite then release and spark should stop.

Sounds like you have shorted out the ignitor module and you may need to replace it. Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into. Hope this helps.
