Question about White Sewing Speedylock 1600 Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Speedylock 1600 I have a White speedylock 1600 that worked fine until I sewed through some thick denim and a needle broke. I replaced the needle, and rethreaded. Now, no chain is being formed. I've rethreaded several times, and replaced needles and checked tension. I think it may be the timing. Any suggestions for fixing this myself?

White speedylock 1600 thread keeps breaking

rethread the machine to make sure it's threaded correctly & that the thread is not caught anywhere

put new needles

check the thread tension, it sounds like it's to tight

use a can of computer air & clean out around the loopers area for lint or loose threads

if none of these suggestions work, then having it serviced would be the next suggestion

I am in need for needles for my Speedylock 1600 What kind of needles do I use......the manual says household type.....does that mean a regular sewing Is machine needle? Is there a size or number?

The plain ol' Singer-type needles are what you need, they're pretty much the standard through the household sewing machine/serger industry.

Match your needles to the material you're using (thickness of the needle) and the thread you're using (eye size). There's generally a chart on the needle package to clue you in there.

That's a nice machine, good luck with it!
