Computer issues I have a laptop that the hard drive was changed becuase it was defective now the screen sometimes blurs out and freezes. What can I do.

Update the BIOS to the latest version available from the HP website.

Does the hard drive fit in with ur computer's specifications, Maybe ur LCD is the problem or the hard drive exceeds ur laptops specifications. By the way laptops are supposed to be brand-specific. What brand is the hard drive and what brand is ur laptop?

Won't turn on


You may have hard drive issues or corrupted window files, remove hardware and reseat it back in position, sometimes this will correct the problem, next sub out the memory one at a time, causes a lot of strange symptoms. If none of these works, use the recovery disc "if you made one" The final option is a computer store to resolve the issues.

Dear Friend,

This is a problem that typically requires to try several steps because there is no a direct solution for it but, follow this steps to might sure that one of this fix the issues, they are as follow:

1- Download and update current Anti-Virus and Malware software to keep your computer protected as well as running them to might sure that there is no bugs or virus that can cause the problem.
2- If you are running Windows Vista on you Laptop, I strongly suggest you to update.
3- There has been rumors around that involves AOL on Windows Vista that cause this logging issues. Removed them completely.
4- I will also suggest you to back up your data in case of disaster. After doing so, I recommend you to do a system repair or re-installed by going to your installation partition that comes loaded from the manufacture or simply upgrade to Windows 7.
5- I do not want to point this but, if none of this work, your laptop might have a bad or defective video car.

My HP laptop tries to start up but freezes on the "microsoft Corporation" screen with the green loading bar. I tried to do a System restore, but it wont acknowledge any recent restore points at...


Hi,

Freezing at the "Microsoft Corporation" screen is normally caused by Windows updates. Since System Restore did not work for you, you can also try to disable unimportant services and start-up items. Usually this kind of problem ends up to reinstalling the operating system.

But you are lucky if reinstalling the operating system would fix the issue. Sometimes you'll end up wondering what to do because you'll end up with the same screen after the computer reboots itself from the long process.

With this kind of issue, I suggest you to try to run a hard drive diagnostic tool or try to use a good known harddrive.

Yes, definitely you can buy replace with any 2.5" laptop hard disk make sure that you buy HD with correct interface, if you old HD is IDE then buy IDE hard disk , elsei if SATA buiy SATA harddisk

Toshiba Satellite Goes completley off! Black screen, NO POWER!


Hi Steven, in my experience as a tech support agent, it seems that you're having an issue with your hard drive, sometimes it might also be an overheating issue, to be clear on that, please be sure to check the temperature of the computer when it shuts down, then the first symptom of the issue seems to be the clicking sound which ussually comes from the hard drive's reading head, this might indicate the hard drive is damaged and that it cannot perform as usual. The steps to troubleshoot the issue will be as follows; First please enter the BIOS/ System Setup of the system, by pressing the [Delete] as soon as the computer turns on several times, you will appear in a black or blue enviroment with some information from your computer. Check if the issue will happen there as well. Second, if the computer gets really hot at the point when it shuts down, please ensure that all the fans in the computer are running (you should be able to hear them), And be sure of the temperature when it shuts down, we must know if the computer is too hot to touch, or there is no problem with it. Third step, how long will the computer stay on? Will it always shut down at the same time?
The best solution for this issue would be to replace the hard drive, or defective fans depending on the troubleshooting results, if you're still within your 1 year warranty with Toshiba, you should contact their tech support team to replace the part.

As an aditional step to the troubleshooting you should also try to remove the hard drive, and let the computer on for as long as its necessary, to discard the hard drive from the issue, if it doesn't shut down then the hard drive seems to be the problem.

Our new Gateway Laptop keeps freezing up for no apparent reason


pls consider changing RAM it is not VIRUS ISSUE and check ur hard disk condition with HDDLIFE for Notebooks check the strength of hard drive , i am serious about this RAM issue pls consider changing it ur issue will most likely resolve ,

IBM T41 WILL NOT STARTS UP SOMETIMESTHEN WHEN IT DOES IT FREEZES


Hi,

problems will be with:-
1:- installed memory ( not enough or damaged memory module ) RAM
2:- The Processor ( CPU ) Is Overheating.
3:- Hard-Drive. The unit may have bad or defective sectors.
4:- Computer Virus Or Similar.

Solution:- remove 1 memory module from the computer ( located on the underside computer ) boot the computer. see if this helps. try changing memory between the 2 allocated slots.

Check the CPU Fan, is not clocked with dust/debris. ( Can be accessed by removing 2 screws on the underside or the laptop ) Marked with >> or similar. remove the fan, 3 small screws and brush with a soft dry paint brush or similar, remove any dust from fan and check for blockages.

run a scandisk or hard-drive checking program, to test hard-disk unit et,c.

following these steps, should solve your problems.

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes


basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor
