Question about Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Amana sx25sw - side by side - fridge not cooling

We have a side by side, 1994 amana sx25sw, and the left side (freezer) portion is full of ice on the back. I believe the ice buildup is preventing cool air from flowing into the right side (fridge) portion. Any ideas how best to fix this problem and can I do it myself or should I call a technician to fix it. Better yet, is it worth it for 1994 fridge?
Much appreciated
Justin

Might be as simple as bad defrost timer( 10530703 $50)and/ or defrost thermostat(R0161088 $35), replace em both for under a hundred bucks. the timer is found behind the kickplate lower right hand side and the derfost thermo is wired in behind the rear panel atop the evaporator, and yea your right its preventing flow cause you "self-defrost" isnot functioning.Great frig though Id fix it

Fridge portion of my bottom freezer refridgerator is not getting cool air through the damper from the freezer section

I had this problem once and it ended up being the passage having a chunk of ice in it blocking the airflow or the damper vanes could be stuck due to ice check the movement of the vanes or the thermostat that controls the vanes may be defective---- hope this helps

Hi there.I have an Amana Side by Side Refridgerator.We are having a problem with the fridge side not cooling enough.The Freezer side is working well.Have you any tips on how to fix it myself ?Cheers.

Check fan which blows cool to fridge compartment is working. Check fridge is defrosted automatically. If not do it manually and check, there will be cooling in fridge compartment. Over frosting will cover up the fan throw behind the freezer. If not auto defrost works, switch off and restart after 5 minutes. Still auto defrost problem, do it manually or replace board.

Fridge/Freezer both only cool and not cold/freezing

have you checked the rear wall of the freezer?if its frosted over,remove the rear panel to check the evaporator coil,if its iced-up it cannot cool the unit properly,if so de-ice with a hair dryer,then check the defrost heater under the coil that is suppose to keep the coil ice free,if its open it cant heat to defrost,if it has continuity and is good,then check the defrost control be it timed or adaptive for proper operation

I have an Amanda side by side, the fridge temp

Look in the freezer side for a ice buildup on the back wall.
Ice= defrost parts issue.
Check the fan in the freezer. Is it running?
Not running? Could be a defrost thermostat issue or a bad fan motor.
