over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament
shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first
unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a
failure on the controller.
This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Changing the light bulb on your Sharp carousel microwave will allow you to have needed light inside the oven. Microwaves are not designed for consumers to change the light bulb due to manufacturer liability, but it can be done. Following the proper steps will ensure a successful installation.
Unplug the Sharp carousel microwave from the electrical outlet.
Locate the screws around the outer cover of the Sharp carousel microwave and unscrew all the screws.
Lift off the covering.
Locate the bulb and unscrew. Screw in your new bulb.
Replace the cover and screw back tightly. Once done, test your new bulb.
On a sharp R-1480, they use a solid state IC on the control board to switch the night/work lights on and off. These IC's can burn up and quit working, or short out and not turn the lights off. I replaced several of these boards close to twenty years ago but I never saw one that was anywhere near close to being a fire hazard. I'm sure that these boards are no longer available.....
FOLLOw this steps and see the picture attached. God bless you
Light bulbIf your
microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first
step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not
correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to
verify if that is the problem.
Light bulb socket & main control boardIf
your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a
new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they
are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the
next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root
cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.
Sounds like a power source issue from under the hood. Unplug or turn off all power and take a closer look in there,. alternatively - this may sound crazy, but are you certain both bulbs are working by testing in another fixture??
