Hey i got a linksys wireless n router. i have it working and it but the router is connected to my laptop and my modem. i dont have a computer to connect these. i called linksys to see if they could help me out with it. but they tried to get $10.00 from me. I'm hoping someone here knows how to go about doing this.
- Connect your router to your modem.
- Connect your notebook to the router. This is temporary, until you get wi-fi set up in the router.
- Start up a web browser, and type in the address 192.168.1.1 - this will access the web setup interface of the unit. Leave the name field blank, and type "admin" for the password (you should change this, once you have it configured).
- Setup the internet, etc, and make sure it's working.
- Go into wi-fi settings, and create an SSID (essentially, this is what the unit will be called). It probably already says "linksys" in that field. Change it, then create a key (it's a password) for your wireless network.
- Save your settings, then disconnect your notebook from the router. Reboot the router.
- Make sure you have wi-fi activated on your notebook. Some do this automatically, some don't. It should "see" your network, with the name you gave it during setup. Click on it to connect, and you'll be prompted to enter the password you assigned during setup.
- Go surf wirelessly.
Cheers
