What most likely is the faulty component that is causing this to go to safety mode and turn off? Jvc customer services states this model does not have lamp/bulb but red/green/blue components. Before it went out a few times the picture would pull inwards and get blurry then go back to normal. (I have electrical experience and have fixed this tv before changing convergence chips. and parts..I would like to get an idea of the problem now to repair myself if possible)

JVC model AV56WP30, rear projection tv. Picture was occasionally pulling in and distorting on the screen. (blurry) then go back to normal. Then popping noise went out and wont turn on. POwer on lite flashes only. Jvc customer service states this model does not have a lamp/bulb, only red/green/blue components. (tubes, projectors????)What could be the bad component causeing this? I have repaired this tv before (convergence chips) and I would like to again if I had an idea of the parts to check?

Hi,

Popping noise would indicate components that gets burned and or heat damaged. Foremost would be capacitors but wold not discount the semicons. It is even possible that the STKs of the convergence that were toasted. Best would be an ocular inspection with particular focus on areas with any burnt smell.

Since you have performed the convergence repair/replacement before, I am assuming that you have a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. You may want to download these repair pages.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The TV is going in protect mode because it detects an internal problem, try leaving it unplugged for a longer time, let say one hour or two.
Basically, what happens is that the TV does not start because it detects that there is an internal problem, such as a wrong voltage, a bad component, overheating etc.
When you unplug power and restart it, you reset the internal circuit, and the TV will restart, not detecting the internal problem.
As soon as the TV gets hot, after staying on for a while, the defective part start giving troubles, as the defective component (probably an IC, starts overheating).

The Digital Processing Board can be cause for the problem.
However all the following parts can be involved.

Parts involved can be

Digital Processing Board
Replacement Ballast
LCD Controller

Time to get the TV repaired. You can go to the following website for detail Parts List.

Thanks

Hi there, sorry for my previous reply in capitals, I experienced a problem with the keyboard.

Effectively AV56WP30 does not have a lamp, but CRT. However, when problem is with CRT, you usually get no raster at all, therefore this does not seem to be the case.

As I told you before the TV does not turn on and stays in standby because it is gone in
protect mode, this happens when the TV main chipset detects that there
is an internal problem, sugh as a wrong voltage, a capacitor that had
blown, a defective integrated circuit, or any other internal fault.

    If
the TV does not restart after leaving it unplugged overnight, that
means that there is an internal fault, and something inside TV must be
    replaced or re-soldered (bad joint).

Unless you get a determined error message is not easy to understand from here what is wrong with your TV.
The fact that picture gets distorted let me think that there may be again a problem with convergence ICs. Test again the pico fuses at the base of the convence STKs.
Try also performing a complete convergence setup from service mode.
If you get double picture on a rear projection CRT, that means that the convergence problem.

If the picture is blurry check also the tuner board, or the tuner circuit area on the main board.

Also inspect the power board and check if any capacitor looks deformed or has burned areas on the board.
A defective power board can cause any kind of side effects.

If you do not find anything suspect with such a general inspection, then you will need to get the service manual and follow the troubleshooting diagrams, so to locate and fix the problem.
You can buy the service manual here:JVC AV56WP30/B Service Manual

In case you cannot find the fault, calling the manufacturer you can ask the price for a warranty extension.
A warranty extension will cover any repair for the next year in case the original warranty is expired.
A warranty extension is often less expensive than a single repair job.

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.

Jvc i art pro doe not turn on

The clicking sound is the TV trying to restart itself. It generally attempts this several times before giving up. The blinking code indicates the type of error (error codes are documented in the manual for the TV). The most likely cause is a burned out bulb, but could be something else.
If it is a bulb, it is usually replaceable without a service technician, and at a cost far less than $450.
Good luck.

Blue light and lamp light flashing, no picture.

Look in the owners manual for the directions on how to remove the lamp. Your model the lamp goes in from the front on the left looking at the TV. There is a thumb screw in the back on the corner holding the left front speaker on. Under the panel there is another thumb screw holding the lamp door on. You will need a Phillips screw driver to remove the lamp. You will most likely find that the lamp is bad. You will either have to order a lamp directly from JVC, a service center or a parts distributor.

gave the crt's a little rat-tat-tap be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are other possibilities as well. Look at the front of the green projector tube and see if it looks like the cooling liquid has been leaking out or if it is not clear all across the screen.
could also be convergence ic's
