If the hissing noise is from the LCD, it could be from the power supply due to failing capacitors. This noise is generated when the TV is trying to compensate for the lack of voltage/curent requirements.

Have a phiips tv had it in storage for over a year turned it on an the screen working perfectly but there a hising noise coming from the back of it do no what it is... Its a big bk tv not flat screen box...

hissing noise will be from high voltage regulator, i would suggest to do following:

1. switch tv off
2. remove plug from the wall
3. using air blower (compressor attachment - not leaf one!) blow the dust, especially from high voltage box section
4. connect the tv and switch on

if tv still issue hissing noise - follow 1 and 2 then:
3. remove back cover
4. use air blower again...
5. re-install back cover
6. reconnect tv and switch on

if hissing noise persist - check for blown capacitors on high voltage, replace if necessary, they have nasty tendency to pop if they are too long in storage, especially if tehy were overheated or frozen.

hope this will help you solve the problem, do not forget to vote...

Vizio tv prolems. TV comes on normal for about 10 seconds (bright w/ colors) then picture dims with a hissing sound from the electronics. Anyone has an idea of a repair video to watch.

The hissing sound is over current from a shorted component. you best bet is to call around and see if anyone can repair it. Ask price first because you might be better off just buying a new one.

Power supply 6871Q1H001A making hissing sound and TV will not sure urn on

Defective SMPS transformer at the power regulator board. This transformer alone cannot available. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time.

I have a Phillips Fla screen and a few days ago it started making this loud buzzing/hissing sound that somewhat goes away once the TV is on but comes back with a vengeance when we turn the TV back on i...

Most likely if a buzzing or similar sound that is there even with set off--you have a noise coming from a transformer in the standby power supply which is running all the time if the set is plugged in----

Someone would have to open set and listen for it---either a part, a board, or hot glue would have to be used to mute the vibration that is making the sound----one way we locate is with cover off probe with a plastic tool to see where it is.

If you are not able to do this have a tech or a shop "look" for it.

The back portion of my sony vega tv is making loud hissing sound. there is no other problem in the tv. plz help

the hissing is coming from the high-voltage transformer used to run the back lamp for the screen, if there is a high amount of humidity or dust arround it the electrical bleed-off makes a hissing sound, just lightly blow it off with a can of PC cleaner/Duster air. If the problem still remains, it is nothing seriouse to worry about unless the picture starts to cut out then you may have a blown capacitor in the inverter section of the television. Easily replaceable by any good tv repairman.

Hissing noise, sound goes off and and i have to turn t.v off and turn it back on

This is a protection circuit that prevents the tv from coming on (to stop damage of the components) ....you need to check your voltages off the power supply and make sure they all read well (EX: 24v12v5v etc). Also look for popped capacitors that would make the values lower than need be for the tv to power on properly.

The hiss is a popped (blown) capacitor! You need to replace it before you keep trying to power on the tv...you will cause more damage

Please rate if this helps!
