Question about Epson Stylus C60 InkJet Printer

Going for vacation for 4 months. Will the ink dry out? Using iP1800. How can i preserve my cartridges so that printing quality remains the same?

I am going for a vacation and will not be using my printer for 4 months. I always store my printer in a box and i am afraid that when i get back, the ink will dry out. I use a Canon iP1880. Also, what should i do to prevent my ink from drying out and hardening after these 4 months?
Thanks.
Regards, Mouse

Hi, If your house is very dry, this might be an on going problem for you.  If the printer is not being stored you will want to print a couple pages a month so the ink will not dry out.  It shouldn't be an issue.  However, you can always wrap it (the printer) in plastic and this should keep the moisture.  Not my favorite solution but it will work.  If the cartridges are not expensive the best bet is to toss them not to damage the printer.   Hope this was helpful and have fun on your vacation!

Black ink fading seems like the jets is blocked.

It usually has to do with the print head of the cartridge not having any ink to feed it. This happens because cartridges are kept flat or upside down for weeks or months before being used and the ink settles away from the print head. The easiest remedy is to open the box and stand the cartridge upright for a few minutes before using. Then get a damp paper towel, fold it into quarters and sit the cartridge print head down onto it. Hold the cartridge down to the damp paper towel for three minutes. This will help pull the ink out of the print heads, priming them and getting them ready to print.
If the ink had solidified inside the cartridge place the clogged cartridge in about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of warm water for a few minutes. When ink starts to slowly leak out take the cartridge out of the water and dry it using a soft cloth to "Q-tip." Then place it back in your printer and run the print head cleaning utility that comes with your printer software. You may have to run this 2-4 times before printing quality is reestablished. If your print head is destroyed, as can happen, you will have to buy a cartridge and refill that cartridge before it is fully empty.

Poor print quality

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridges that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

My cannon printer pixma ip1800 cannot detect ink pls help me...

If after you install the cartridge you get a yellow light and error message:
“The following may have run out of color. The function for
detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled since the
ink level cannot be correctly detected. If you want to
continue printing with out this function, press the printer’s
start button. Canon recommends using new genuine Canon
cartridges in order to obtain optimum quality.”

Do not click “cancel printing”. Press printer start button
to start printing. This action will bypass the ink level
detection from the recycled cartridge. It will not damage the
printer! With a recycled cartridge this action needs to be
done one time.
A full recycled cartridge ink level may not display correctly.
It may show empty.
If you want to check the ink level, you can do a “Nozzle
check” by follow the directions below:
Go to menu File select print click on “Property” click
on “Maintenance”
Click on “Nozzle check” to print out the color check.
Click on “Cartridge Alignment” to align the cartridge.

See pictures for above process at Inktelligent ip 1800 topic

Also the refills refered to above are at the IP 1800 inkfilling page

Not printing

The remaining levels of the following ink cannot be correctly detected.
Color
The following ink is running low.
Black [830]
Prepare a new ink cartridge.
The resulting print quality may not be satisfactory, if printing is continued under this condition.
If either black or color ink cartridge has run out, you can set the printer to continue printing with the other cartridge from the Ink Cartridge Settings on the Maintenance tab of the printer driver.
