Re: cartridges wont align
Could be one of two things....
1 - as the person has already posted, you may have bad cartridges...when the machine does an alignment it looks for specific marks on the paper...ie..green check marks before each line etc...if the correct marks are not there you will get an alignment failure...if the green check marks are there etc then you have a different problem...
2- spot sensor on the side of carriage is not working...this is the little blue/green light that comes on during alignment. Its what reads the markings on paper so if the markings are correctly there and you still get this error then the spot sensor needs to be replaced. Simple fix that u can do. We sell the spot sensor for $15

After installing new catridges, try to goto the printer options. in the serives option do the ALIGN THE CATRIDGES. then it will aligh the catridges correctly and it may print.
This procedure works for some models of printers.
From the front panel (Macintosh and Windows)Press MENU or SETUP (depending on the model). Press the right ARROW repeatedly until the display window reads Maintenance. Press ENTER. Press the right ARROW repeatedly until the display window reads Align Print Cartridges. Press ENTER. The unit will begin the alignment process and the display window will read Printing Alignment Page Verify that the alignment was successful after the page is complete.
I just noticed in the link to your forum item that additional text appears that does not appear in the item itself. It looks like you are getting a message telling you to press Enter to align your print carriage. This is a common step after you replace an ink cartridge. According to HP.com, here's what you are supposed to do:
"A message will appear in the front panel display requesting that the ink cartridges be aligned. Press Enter to start the cartridge alignment. Two pages will print. Following the instructions printed on the second page, place the first page on the scanner glass in the lower-right corner and then press Enter to finish aligning the cartridges. Remove the page from the scanner glass when complete".
You can also bypass the alignment. When the message for alignment displays on the display => Press Setup and Options (or Copy Options ) simaltanious. The last known alignment is used when the alignment is bypassed.
