Sharp Convection oven, about thirteen years old, died while working... No electricity seems to be flowing anywhere into the microve convection oven. Does it have a fuse that might have blown, or is it more likely that it has died a sudden death and should simply be replaced? Model is R9H84B manufactured in October 1995

Sharp Convection oven, about thirteen years old, died while working... No electricity seems to be flowing anywhere into the microve convection oven. Does it have a fuse that might have blown, or is it more likely that it has died a sudden death and should simply be replaced? The real problem is that it is mounted in our cabinets and it has pieces that make it a perfect fit in them. It may be extremely difficult to find a replacement that has all the mounting brackets.

Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

Chance of fuse being blown . But i think it is time to replace it . It will be not only be the problem of fuse . Due to aging of components can cause you lot of trouble . Go for new one .

Built-in Sharp Carousel II Microwave Convection Oven died.

There are a couple of safety thermostats in the oven to shut down power if something overheats. One is on the magnetron tube (the microwave source), the other is on the cooking cavity. These sometimes go bad. There's also a power line fuse that may have failed, or become loose in its mounting clips. These can be tested with an ohmmeter; they should all measure very close to zero ohms if they're good.

Another possibility is that the control circuit board in the oven may have failed. I have worked on several Sharp ovens where the power transformer for the board has gone bad for no good reason. If the board goes bad the oven may appear to be dead as well.

Microwave servicing is best left to professionals. If you're thinking of keeping this one, take it to a service shop (or call for home service) and get an estimate. Then decide whether to repair or replace.

Hope this has helped a little. Thanks for using Fixya!

Convection oven problem

Most of the time the magnetron is defective if the food is not heating up.
In some cases there is a defective low power transformer or other componenents associated with the magnetron.
I would suggest to check the owners manual under the warranty section. Sometimes the magnetron has 5 years warranty.
Good Luck.
