Question about Jenn-Air JED8430 Electric Cooktop

1 Answer

Jenn Air model JED8430ADW

The knob for the blower wont pop up. I have removed this old knob and when I look down into the space where it was there is nothing below it. I found a nut that may have attached to something as well. When the knob was in place my wife could use her index and middle fingers using her nails to turn it off and on. This is clearly not the way it should work. Getting below the fan control knob and into the main unit seems very hard. Not sure what to do?

It appears you simply have a bad switch. Try contacting Jenn-Air or looking them up on the web to find out if they have replacement parts available

Installing Jenn-Air cooktop, model jed8430

Hi, W/D here.

The plenum is the box the blower assembly attaches to. The blower pulls the cooking vapors down the plenum (well) and discharges through the duct.
Best regards, W/D

Flames too high Jenn-air CCG2423

Definitely cut your loses and get a cooktop with a warranty. That unit sat on the back shelf for a reason.......it didn't work properly.

Also, but a cook top that is compatible with the safety knobs they sell as child guards at places like lowes and home depot.

here is a link to show you how the child proof knobs work

I have the same model with the same problem. The replacement is simple. Remove the burner cap (no tools needed) Take a large crescent wrench and remove the large center nut holding the burner assembly in place. The ignitor will slide out of the assembly once it is removed. Good luck
