Paper feeding problem

Printer is a couple of years old and now when I try to print a page it just feeds the paper half way through and doesn't print anything. A paper jam message comes up, but I hit the cancel print button, the paper feeds all the way through without any print and another piece of paper feeds through halfway. I don't think it is a roller problem, but something with the brains of the printer. HELP

SOURCE: Fax Jam

hp tells me to do the following
does this help you ?

Issue While printing, copying, or receiving a fax, a paper jam occurs. If the jammed paper is removed incorrectly, other problems may occur. Clearing paper jams Remove the jammed paper by following the steps below: WARNING: Jammed paper must be removed using the rear access door to avoid mechanical damage. Do not remove jammed paper from the front of the all-in-one.

  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it so the back of the all-in-one faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. CAUTION: The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely and avoid mechanical damage.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab to release the catches and then pulling the door toward you. Figure 1: Removing the rear access door c00100775.jpg
  4. Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to Buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  5. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  6. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  7. Reinstall the rear access door.
  8. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the all-in-one.
Preventing paper jams The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:
  • Never use paper that is wrinkled or damaged in any way.
  • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once (recycling), replace it with fresh paper.
  • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door. Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can skew if the rear access door isn't locked.
  • Every six months to one year, clean the paper feed rollers with a rag lightly moistened with clean water. Over time the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as they once did.
  • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.

SOURCE: hp psc 1315 paper jam

Hi,

. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge inside the all-in-one printer to dissipate before putting your hands or any metal tools inside the chassis.

2.
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The 3 hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and print carriage or between the print carriage and output tray.

3.
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet jammed while still in the front area of the printer. If here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4.
Pull the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a piece deeper inside the machine.

5.
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed-tray area and print carriage. Carefully remove the jammed paper.

6.
Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside the printer. You may need to remove the print carriage to get to the jam.

7.
Replace all parts and return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

Here's a link to the full service manual for your HP 3055. It's too large to post here (15MB) but I've hot linked it for you so you can download it to resolve your issue with the ADF. Look at pages 44 thru 46. Pay special attention to the rubber pad (separation pad) that is under the 2 roller peice as it is what keeps the doc feeder pulling one sheet at a time.

Hope that helps you. If so hit me with a FIXYA, If not send me a message or reply and I'll try and walk you through it.

SOURCE: HP paper jam

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.

Black dots are printing on the left hand side of the page when I print from my hp laserjet 1015. Any ideas how to fix this?

Run a "half test". Put paper in the manual feed tray. Print anything. Watch the paper, when it feeds about 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover. Pull out the toner and look down at the paper. If it has the dots, replace the toner. If it doesn't have dots, the fuser is probably bad.

The printer only prints half a page then moves to next page and a

Before printing, the printer checks the paper size. If the paper edge guide is positioned incorrectly, the paper may be fed at an angle. If this happens, the bottom of the paper is therefore at an angle and not perpendicular with the paper feed rollers. This can result in the paper sensor not recognising the real page width as it can only detect a certain amount of the bottom of the paper sheet which is nearest to it.

If only part of the width of the paper is detected, the printer considers that the paper width is less than it actually is. To avoid printing on internal parts of the printer such as paper feed rollers, the printer automatically cuts the image to fit the detected paper width As this phenomenon depends on the paper feeding condition, it can be random.
Reload the paper and make sure it is loaded correctly. All the way to the right and the paper guide correctly adjusted.

Paper not feeding correctly

try to clean the carriage and see if a Q-TIP will reach the feed rollers. They probably still have some ink still on them.

I have a Dell 946 printer that is a couple of years old. It has started printing crooked on the pages. I have done the alighnment and that did not fix the problem. Can you help?

probably no much you can do the correct the problem because The problems that users encounter while using a Dell printer
varies with the model. However the common problems all Dell printer models suffer from are their slow speed and faulty paper feed mechanism. Quality of prints varies from one model to another, but most of the models do not produce prints having very fine qualities. A Dell printer is particularly notorious for its poor and faulty feed mechanism. They tend to cripple the papers or take in large number of papers at a time and print parts of documents on each page. They keep on generating messages indicating lack of paper, no matter the paper is being supplied or not. Such a problem makes the printer absolutely useless

Paper Jam on

most printers are pretty cheap now so replacement is always an option....on the other hand, I will spend countless hours trying to figure out what is wrong first. Remove all paper first, open printer and check for pieces of torn paper or debris, if you have a can of air you can blow out the insides to clean. Put 3 or 4 sheets of paper in, print a test page and watch carefully how paper advances...is it straight or crooked when being loaded? Is printer trying to pull more than 1 sheet at a time? Good luck
