My freezer is automatically defrosting how do i stop this from running my food

Your freezer is SUPPOSED to automatically defrost. If it does not defrsot by itself, within a week so frost will be built up in the freezer no cold air will flow into the fresh food compartment and soon ALL the food in that compartment will be runied followed soon after by the stuff in the freezer. Unless something is wrong with the defrost cycle it defrst for 25 minutes every 72 hours (3 days) and make it so everything is in good working order and air flows as it is intended too. If your experiencing the defrost staying on for more that a hour at a time thats a problem but if it defrost about every 3 days all is well and should be left alone to work just fine as it was designed to do.

The fridge portion is not staying cold. The freezer is working fine.

The air damper(that allows air to go to the freezer to frig side) is possibly plugged with frost. or if frost on back panel is visible then the unit is not defrosting properly, three possible failues or combnations 1.defrst heater 2.defrost timer 3.bi-metal defrost thermostat. find which is failed but the fi frost is on the back panel the the quickest tempory fix is this remove all items from the freezer and thaw/defrost the evap coil then reassemble the freezer compartment

Sounds like the unit is not defrosting properly and you can verify this by looking at the back panel of the frzr is their frost on it if so you can call repair person or remove the items in frzr including ith ice bin and get your hairdryer and thaw the evap, the down side is it will occur again unit the the defrst issue is repaired

Fridge works freezer isnt getting cold enough to freeze

check to see if you have frost on the back panel of the freezer if so then defrost the unit and if your able to find the failure of the defrst heater or defrst thermostat,or the defrost thmer more than likely its the mother board since its a general electric frig but if you manually defrost until a repair tect can come then it will run normal until it frost up again but before you call the tech out make sure you have the frost on the back panel otherwise he'll make several trip trying to solve the problem with the frig unless its the defrst heater

Freezer gets cold refrige stays warm kenmore model# 106 44563600 side by side no ice maker

by cold do you mean at freezing temps or just cold if so do you see frost on the back panel of frzr if so req defrosting if is a self defrst three item could be bad morelikly its one the defrost heater or bi-metal thermostat on top of evap or the defrst timer if need rapid move the frzr item in cooler get hair dryer and thaw the frzer can you remove the rear panel without much work it would work better this way. now this is a short term fix before you get tech out or not it will have to be failed again so he/she can solve this problem
